And so it begins. Will be in and out all weekend so getting this out now. Let's GO. 

Boston vs Washington. 8 meetings for the season and each team won 4 times. AND...both each won 2 on the opposition's ice. O/U in the series was 5-2-1. Boston scored 26 goals (3.25/gm) and Washington scored 25 goals (3.12/gm). Boston was 6-4 their last 10 and Washington 7-3. Advantage Boston in net. Check Washington's IR- Oshie is a ?, Kuznetsov OUT, and Carlson is good to go (maybe). 

Pens vs Isles. Pens were 6-2 in the 8 meetings this year, and Pens were 4-0 at home vs Isles this year. O/U in the series was 4-4. Interesting enough, 3 of the 4 unders were in Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh scored 26 goals (3.25/gm) and Isles scored 19 goals (2.37/gm). Isles were 3-7 their last 10 games and Pittsburgh was 8-2. Pittsburgh should be healthy except DeSmith injury. Advantage Pens offensively, Isles defensively. 

Minnesota vs Vegas. Wild won 5 of the 8 meetings this year. Vegas only won ONCE in Minnesota. The O/U in the series was 4-4. Interesting enough, the Wild and the Knights each scored 24 goals (3.00/gm) in the series. Here is something I thought was interesting in my look...Wild last 10 was 5-5 BUT....in all 10 games they gave up 3 or more goals. Vegas was 7-3 last 10 games and scored 3 or more in 8 of those 10. 

Tampa vs Florida. Florida won 5 of the 8 meetings this year, including 3 of 4 at home (there is a definite Lippsman split play). O/U was 5-2-1. Florida scored 31 goals (3.82/gm) while Tampa scored 24 goals (3.0/gm). Florida finished the last 10 games 8-2, scoring 3 or more in 8 of the 10, INCLUDING scoring 4 or more in the last 6 games. Tampa was 6-4 last 10 and allowed 3 or more in 5 of those 10. Interesting to see what Stammer and Kucherov will bring. Don't think the Cats will be intimidated. 

Series bets: Bruins, Pens and Cats

Oh, I find it very, very strange that we have games Oil/Nucks and then Nucks/Flames on days the playoff starts. WHY freaking bother?

I like unders in the pens/isles series and probably a few unders in the bruins/caps series

pens should handle the isles, but isles are a good team defensively which is helpful in playoffs...

bruins/caps should be the closest of all the opening series, 2 evenly matched teams, slight edge bruins for being healthier??

could see the panthers/lightning splitting 1-1....high scoring playoff series maybe???? 2 really good goalies in vasi/bob

thinking vegas will win game 1 at home, could be a tight series

canes should handle the preds, might go 2-0 off the bat....Saros is the wild card

avs/blues might be closer than people think, or maybe the avs just smoke em

oilers should handle jets, its a better matchup for them than montreal

leafs are a much better team than montreal but habs will be fired up, probably wont touch this series. maybe an over if they set it at 5.0

Hey guys.   Been following different cappers... different sports... this one seems to be one of best... informative... non judgmental on ‘other’ topics...   and highly accurate...   I have not placed a wager off this info... just observing... appreciate this thread...   I may actually look into hockey a bit and try to contribute... keep it up ... thanks.

Blues/Avs Thoughts  

I’m kinda likin that Caps tonight. Just a hunch. Do they even have a chance tonight?

I believe with the split you need to be at least +120 to qualify and you almost will never see the home team as a dog in the playoff Game 1 on home ice. So...we are kind of in uncharthed territory here. IMO...take some of the big road dogs ( Preds...Blues...Habs...Thrashers...Wild ) for the split but otherwise...these teams have played each other sooooo much that we know the edges and angles. I don't think those will change too much in the playoffs for the first two rounds. These teams in their divisions this year know each other inside out and upside down.

Just my thoughts...like the regular season...it will likely not be normal.

Coin flip.  1. Like Rask over Vaneck. 2. Like the way the Bs played at the end compared to Caps. 3. F the Caps this time of year but I still am friends with Pirooz. I feel they'll split these first two games and I expect one to go over.

 Great point about them playing each other so often this year,the play-offs could be a little different this year because of that.

Pen tt o 2.5 - Pens scored 3 goals in 6 of the 8 meetings this year. 

Florida/Tampa over 5.5 - over was 5-2-1 in this series, yes it is the playoffs but Tampa will have more firepower and the Cats like to run and gun. 

Capitals looking good so far. 

Washbags are in a little trouble...Vanecek down and it looks like from my prospective more than just this game type injury. Anderson, then who after him? Oshie also left the bench.

 Yeah...I may have to buy out of my wager for a loss after this one if he is down for a while. Immediately changes the look of the series.

It doesn't matter who is in net for Washington, if the B's only put 4 shots on net, Boo could stop those. No doubt that Washington is the better team through the first 2 periods.

Wow no shots on goal on PP for the Bruins 

If B's get out of this with a W, they will be lucky. They were dominated. 

Honestly, that is the way it should have ended. The Caps really dominated the game. B's didn't take advantage of having Anderson in net. Caps were more physical and just plain out wanted it more.

Bruins sucks. I’ve like Caps all day. Bruins are playing sloppy. Their puck control is horrible and looks like they weren’t ready for this game.
