Jarmarcus Russel was an LSU Qb. That didnt turn out so well.
Oh wow, I remember him. He was dumb as a post. Only the Raiders were stupid enough to draft him. I think he got like 5 out of 50 on the Wonderlic.
(A little research on my own claim: Russell was the first overall pick of the 2007 NFL Draft and had a Wonderlic Test Score of 24 (2 above Frett Favre, so there ya go). Russell is primarily known for being a huge talent who could never put it together in the NFL. After Ryan Leaf, Russell is considered the biggest bust in the history of the NFL Draft. Leaf had a Wonderlic Test Score of 27 which considering the trajectory of his NFL/drug addict/egomaniac career seems rather high in retrospect.)
So, it got me wondering:
Wonderlic scores of some of the more notable quarterbacks recently in the NFL include:
Ryan Fitzpatrick: 48 (Harvard, so) (highest NFL ever was 50 — Pat McInally (punter) who went to...Harvard, so)
Carson Wentz: 40
Eli Manning: 39
Steve Young: 33
Phillip Rivers: 30
Troy Aikman: 29
Matt Hasselback: 29
Peyton Manning: 28
Brett Favre: 22
and
Matthew Stafford: 38
Josh Allen: 37
Aaron Rodgers: 35
Ryan Tannehill: 34
Joe Burrow: 34
Tom Brady: 33
Kirk Cousins: 33
Russell Wilson: 28
Dak Prescott: 25
Ben Roethlisberger: 25
Patrick Mahomes: 24
I found this interesting:
Lowest-scoring Wonderlic Tests
7 - Vince Young.
6 - Oscar Davenport. (Who? Some guy who actually was a QB at North Carolina - a very good school)
15 - Dan Marino.
15 - Donovan McNabb.
15 - Jim Kelly.
15 - Terry Bradshaw.
And finally, Tua Tagovailoa reportedly scored a 13 on the Wonderlic Test, the lowest of the 2020 quarterback draft class.

Was reading about it. It's an IQ test started in the 1930's with current racial/educational bias. Maybe becasue the team owners are all white? I don't know, ask Colin Kapernick.
But with Brett Favre, Patrick Mahomes, Terry Bradshaw and Tua at the bottom of the charts, it obviously doesn't work very well as a predictor of good QB's.
IMO Favre and Bradshaw are considered "dumb hicks". Oh yeah, forgot about the highly intelligent Colts and Raiders owners. (They had rich fathers and didn't do shit.)

My first job after college had me take a Wonderlic. They said I had the highest score ever, then they said their daughter had a higher one than me. Lmao. Yeah right.

For talking points. They don't put much stock into the Wonderlic anymore. There is another test, a cognition test called the S2, which is the preferred diagnostic tool now. The Wonderlic is more akin to a traditional IQ test, which have always been a little questionable. The S2 tests aspects such as the brains processing speed as opposed to simple logic.

I mean if I was an owner, the models for a perfect QB would be Peyton Manning Troy Aikman Roger Staubach Joe Burrow Steve Young guys that can play and also speak intelligently at press conferences and booster luncheons.

Why would that be sarcastic? He's considered the 3rd greatest QB of all time, won Super Bowls with 2 different teams, is funny, engaging, smart, has a network tv show, etc. etc.

Vince Young couldn't spell cat if you gave him the c and the t.
Honestly what is really the difference between Vince Young and Lamar Jackson? Both phenomenal athletes. Gifted runners. Neither very good at reading a defense, questionable accuracy, great arm strength. I will give you that Jackson is probably better reading a defense than Young. Both dumber than a box of rocks, which tends to show up in crunch times. I will say Jackson representing himself was brilliant. He played the Ravens perfectly. But I was talking about dumber than a box of rocks on the field. In life the man seems to have it figured out so good for him.

Vince Young in 6 seasons started 50 games, threw for 46 TD's, 8,964 yards and had a QB rating of 74.4. He made $64 million.
He earned $34 million in salary during his career in the NFL, and signed $30 million in endorsement deals with Reebok, Campbell's Soup, Madden NFL, Vizio and the National Dairy Council. In January 2014, Young filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in a Houston federal bankruptcy court. When asked to give a general assessment of Young's finances, Young's attorney, Trey Dolezal, stated "I would just say that Vince needs a job."
In 6 seasons Lamar Jackson has started 77 games, has thrown for 125 TD's, 15,887 yards and has a carer QB rating of 98.0. He has made $112,774,549 so far and under his current contract will earn a total of $292,774,549. He is currently earning $52 million per year. No word on endorsements.
Oh, and Vince Young is leading 2-0 in career DUI's.
