Reading today about the Wong teaser system, does anyone have any thoughts about it?

I would never play a teaser because of house odds but this is a very interesting example.

Being such a frequent poster I'm surprised you aren't familiar with it. Its done so well in the past its the reason books shade lines so it's legitimate. Teasers are vital in the NFL if you follow a few rules: NEVER tease totals, and don't tease beyond 2 teams. This actually puts the odds in YOUR favor if you can find the most accurate lines to tease ( usually very defensive teams getting points or divisional revenge games). Any other teaser will lose you money, getting cute with more than 2 teams or teasing O/U or anything other than the NFL is a losing proposition. But yes Wong teasers and the like are very profitable if you can pick your spots.

Why not tease totals? I have quite a bit of success doing so.

My fav are 3team/10pt teasers for NFL on bookmaker.

I do agree, keep teasers in NFL only. I would never tease NBA.

Awesome stuff. I have been to the school of hard knocks and read many books on Poker and Horse Racing but have never read Wong's ( I did order it today)

So, if I get this right, we look for games that will double cross the 3 and 7 point spread.

Favorites that tease to 1.5-2.5 or dogs that tease to 7.5-8.5.

From 5 Dimes that makes the Bills, Packers and Cowgirls plays this week.

Then we do a round robin from them so we have 3 plays total and no 4 play teasers?

So I put together a $10 teaser on these for 30 bucks total ( although since this is Covers I should brag it is 10K)  


Ok, someone tell me if I got this right?
My plan is to keep the thread open til the end of the year.

Can a mod please edit the title? 'Wong teaser' is going to up comments on subjects other than what the op wants to discuss.

Wow-

This stuff is really cool. So now, as I read further, 5Dimes has lost a bunch on Wong Teasers and has moved there lines to not have to give the 7-9 as much.
Sure enough, when I look at what I teased and what the actual odds are, they have moved the teased number off of the -110 number to make it harder to get the 7,8 point spreads.

It seems Bovada is not as smart with this?
Any insight?

Also read an article stating that 7 is good too. When Wong first did his calculations, 7 did not win like a 6 point teaser did. That said, he had a smaller sample size and when it was expanded to be over a decade of football, 7 point teasers that crossed the golden 3 and 7 point totals were winners also.

Bovada has juiced their lines to make them less profitable. They will give you the good number but the payoff is less. They are -110 on the 6 point (not -105) and -130 on the 7 point (not minus 120)

Crash: I've been playing two team teasers for many years anywhere from 4.5 point to 7.5 points. Obviously the less you move the number the more it pays. (and there are pay tables all over the internet if you have questions on this)

a couple of stern rules to be a winning teaser player:
NEVER go past zero and back up (ex: -3 to +3

One of the best success plays I've personally encountered
is to play a 6.5 point teaser from a 7 point favorite down to -.5
if you have a STRONG opinion that that team is very likely to win the game but doesn't run the score up on its opponents

You should tease ONLY off of key numbers:
If you like an 8 point dog for example Tease him up in a 6.5 point teaser to the key number of +14.5

Key numbers to tease on:
+3 tease UP to +9.5 or +10
+4 tease UP to +10.5
-6 or -7 tease DOWN to -.5 or pick em 
-8 tease DOWN to -1.5 OR UP (as per the example above) to +14.5

Good stuff guys! I'm always looking for those  games that cross 2 major numbers. I got dal,gb and Pitt in a few teasers this week already. The house definitely avoids putting out +- 8.5 and +-1.5 for this reason IMO. I do feel that spread points are more valuable than total points but  if you have a strong lean on a O/U then I don't mind packaging them together to keep it all on one game. I already posted Dallas -1 & over 38.5 in my thread. Dallas is averaging 27.9 this year and scoring more a the year goes on(35,35). The D won't shut out the ravens so I'm comfortable with this tease.

Small books HATE 2 team teasers because if they are getting sharp action they probably book a loss overall on them. That's why you see them go to ridiculous juice to even discourage play on them. There are sites all over that offer 4.5 point teasers all the  way up to 15 point teasers. And again as I said previously, the return is the highest of course on the smaller teasers of only moving the number as small as 4.5 points and reduces from each half point you take up from there..........

What gives?  The pros were probably nailing those 6-point teasers.

If the betting public was losing money on those 6-point teasers, your book would never kill a cash cow.

I don't really disagree with any of your plays but I would use different teaser numbers based on my current lines;

Chiefs -9  tease down 6.5 points to below the key number of -3
(by the way I'm flying in to KC for the game as I said in an earlier thread) and I have a STRONG feeling that Tampa keeps this game close and covers the +9 Chiefs are really beat up:
Macklin out
Peters hurt but probably playing with a hip pointer
Hali constantly hurt (knees)
long snapper's father (Winchester) was murdered so he's out with family-strange week for my Chiefs. The return of Justin Houston will undoubtedly help but he'll be rusty off the long layoff and may not be 100%.

Giants-9 tease down 6.5 points to -2.5 (cant see them not covering this number vs lowly Bears and Jeffrey being suspended don't help the Bears cause either)...

Steelers-9.5 tease down 7 points to -2.5 (they'll beat the Browns even though I have a feeling the Brownies will come to play, teams with nothing to lose in the NFL can be very dangerous as the Chiefs found out a few years ago when the Raiders snuck up on them at 1-10,,,,

Cards +1 tease them up 6.5 points to +7.5 (Vikes in total disarray like the Cards to cover this number but WARNING WILL ROBINSON: Cards haven't won in Minnesota since 1977 Wow!)

Bills +2.5 use 6 point teaser to +8.5 (again I like this play, can't see horribly coached Bungles blowing them out) 

Rams +1 tease them up 6.5 points to +7.5
(don't have a strong feeling for this play as Goff's debut could be anything and Miami appears to be getting their garbage together with a strong offensive line providing running lanes for Ajayi and taking pressure off of Tannehill) 

In summary These are the points you should be teasing find teams that fit this profile to use in your 2 teamers,

Teasing O/U literally loses half your value right off the top. To put it simply, when you tease a side you swing that side's points towards your favor (Dolphins from pk to +7 for example). When you tease an O/U you only swing the ENTIRE TOTAL of the game BETWEEN TWO TEAMS just 7 points. Not just terrible value but a complete sucker bet through and through.
