@Macwestie1 Since when are you the topics' monitor? No doubt you have some juice with the moderators but this is an NFL forum and Jerod Mayo's elevation as head coach of the Patriots is news. So what is the beef? The topic of NFL covers a broad range of subjects and yes, some of them are potentially controversial. Nobody is ragging on Mayo for being Black and I mentioned that I would wait to see his destiny written before I comment on his job performance. As a good American I believe in a level playing field for all regardless of their race. I am a free speech absolutist and if it comes across as 'hate speech' then perhaps somebody needs to toughen up and be more tolerant of the concept.
You don't even understand the concept of free speech.

@vanzack I don't ask for your permission to express my thoughts nor should I, or anyone else. God didn't die and put you in charge yet. If we decide to take up the topic of self appointed primadonnas, then you have a right to chime in but until then
Yes, you do have a right to be racist.
I have a right to tell you to F off.
I never met a hater better than me. I am on twitter

Either way, don't see Patriots improving very much in that Division.. Bottom dwellers for a few years no matter who coaches them... terrible situation to improve on, after GOAT QB and HC depart.. Good Luck
True. And his feelings are his own. His experiences are his own. And you have to know that there is a time and a place. He played many years in New England so I promise you he knows what, and who he is dealing with. It's not the best way to go into his tenure making issues of race front and center. With that said, he was probably asked a loaded question and just answered it. This is where both of this sound bite, click bait stuff comes from. Someone leads theine of questioning in a direction and a person simply answers the questions.

they didnt have to. it was written in his contract. it's not terribly common but it happens. I think Dallas did this with Jason Garrett many years ago?

Concerning the Bill Russell actions and the incidents with the bananas at Red Sox games. That is certainly messed up and I had never heard those stories.I have some Irish cousins from Boston (and I know they do have a lot of Irish residents in Boston) and have spent time with them growing up through the years. And have never seen them be racists to anyone. That's why I had asked you why you said that about Boston.
In regards to having family members chased out of neighborhoods. That unfortunately is something that happens in all neighborhoods,in even somewhat a decent sized city.Be it a white guy getting chased in a latino or black neighborhood,or a black guy getting chased in a white or latino neighborhood,or the latino getting chased in the white or black neighborhood.I don't think Boston is the only place that happens in.And unfortunately now I don't think it's so much as being chased,as much as just being shot at.
And the other comment that groups of white people don't even like each other.Isn't that the way every city and every neighborhood is like? Here in Chicago most the violence is done within the same races, whites against whites, and blacks against blacks, and I think to even a lesser degree latino on latino.

No, it's not like that in every city. Literally only a few. I think you are being naive as the history of racism in Boston, specifically as it relates to sports, is pretty well documented.
I don't want to get to far off into it though as it will deflect from my actual stance, which is there is a time and a place for such commentary and this probably wasn't it. Like I said though, he almost certainly was simply answering a question. Reporters drive narratives with their lines of questioning to get clicks. That's all this is.

And for the record, I love the city of Boston. It's my father's home town and I have had nothing but good experiences when I have visited. I am also grateful he and my mother got the hell out of there though.
