Hes incapable of throwing with any force velocity. Weakest arm in the NFL. Lynch giving this scrub 250 million dollars is the worst contract in pro sports history.

T-Rex was playing like he was stressing and trying to make people forget about Mac but all he did was make people want to see Mac starting again.

I knew it was bad, but that’s incredible. I saw the signs last year. He lost me two bets by throwing interceptions and forcing the ball late. He was pressing then and he is doing the same now, trying to justify that big contract. His confidence is shot. I don’t know how they build him back up. Kapernick 2.0. Jimmy G. 2.0 Same story. Again and again for the Niners. ![]()

This is not a great take to me.
The throw to Jennings was slightly behind him. He was trying to lay it out for Jennings to run tint it. He simply threw it behind him. That has nothing to do with his arm.
The throw to Pearsall in the EZ, he was only throwing from the 30 yardline. That does not require a strong arm. Any QB in the league can do that. He just armed it up for the taller WR to make a play. He was running forward and saw a chance to loft it and did not have time to fully step into the throw. He simply did not loft it enough. This was not a situation where he needed to rifle it anywhere.
The third throw, the corner had an empty zone and just read Purdy. Since his zone was empty he had time to just go to the ball. Even Aikman said Purdy simply did not see him nor did he have a reason to see him.
But that was not because of a weak arm either.
Purdy is known for having great touch on his deep balls and simply did not have great mechanics on the first two. The third was just a missed defender by him.
Velocity was not the issue on any of those three throws.
The week before he had a very good game against Arizona which has a better pass rush. Certainly Carolina has a better pass defense. But he was not under that much pressure and never needed to rifle the ball in either game.
Maybe because he has only been back the two games he made those bad throws.
I am not tally defending or absolving him.
He is not in my top five or anything. But he is far from a scrub. I was not a huge fan at first. But he has certainly more than impressed me since he has taken over that job.

No way his 'confidence is shot'. That is what they talked about during the game that Shanahan like about him -- he does not give up on any play. But they say it also frustrates him because he will try too hard to make something happen.
That mentality is hard to find in a QB that can actually make a team better. You see it a lot with Mahomes. You have to play them until the whistle.
Sometimes you have to take the bad with the much better with some of these guys.

The biggest problem w Purdy last night is he was late and staring down his receivers. That's a recipe for disaster against any defense.
You'll note SF didn't call for many passes across the middle of the field in the 2nd half, his nemesis in the 1st.

@Raiders22
You’re kidding, right!? 3 interceptions in a half and he is not to blame? The guy had 20 yards of daylight in front of him and threw it into coverage. That’s mental, not mechanical. He will not be a starter in two years. ![]()

@begginerboy
No sir, you misunderstood what I was saying. Or I was not clear enough.
None of the interceptions was because of the lack of velocity. They were not velocity passes.
They were supposed to be touch passes.
I am not absolving him. Of course he threw the balls.
One was not lofted enough up top, one was not placed out in front enough, and one was from a bad offensive play that allowed a defender to rove out of place to the ball.
But, yes, he made mistakes on all of them. But it was not like he was trying to force the ball into double coverage or making awful reads.
BUT all INTS are not created equal. A QB will get 'credited' with an INT when a well-placed ball is popped up in the air by a WR and picked off.
Or like last night when Young got picked off because his receiver was clearly grabbed and held going into his break and the refs missed it.
But you do not have the efficiency that Purdy has had since becoming a starter by being a 'scrub'.
Where was all this blame after the game against Arizona, for example.
That is where the team is balanced and good enough to allow him to 'force' plays -- just like Mahomes does and still win games.
It is very hard to seriously list 10 QBs that have played since Purdy has started that are actually better than he is.
Like I said, I was not big on him before he started. But he is not nearly as bad as I thought he was going to be.

”Comparison is the thief of joy”
who are you comparing Brock Purdy to?
the paid rate of a quarterback seems to be at an all time high and will probably go higher.. meaning there will be quarterbacks getting paid BANK.. that are slightly above average or serviceable.. everyone says the same thing everytime a quarterback gets paid.. go down the long list..
quarterbacks have good seasons and bad seasons Brock is obviously having a down year compared to previous years.. he earned his contract look at his resume.. San Francisco did not have to pay him but they chose to pay up.. look at the big picture..Zoom out.. how many top tier paid quarterbacks have won the superbowl let alone made it to the Super Bowl? Go down the list.. and I don’t need to hear “oh but Brock had receivers”…. You play the teams scheduled infront of you and you join a team with or without playmakers.. the quarterback still has to throw the ball versus an entire defense.. they make things happen..
just ask yourself this question everytime this comes up.. how many quarterbacks is he better than.. starter wise.. he’s definitely not a back up that’s for sure.. he literally was ranked in the Top 10 last season lol
also coming off a 6week hiatus of game time action.. injury + time off you would expect hiccups and rust while he works his way back to game shape and rhythm.. not to mention quarterbacks have different styles of play they’re not the same.. so..although Mac Jones looks great in the shanahan offense I personally would rather take Brock over Mac Jones if I had to start a team .. higher ceiling.
I remember when everyone was dunking on Dak for his contract saying the same thing..
What does everyone think about Dak right now?

@ChOmP
lol. The guy is 5’9 has small hands, can’t play in weather and the only time he was actually good was when the team was stacked. Look at his last 10 games from last season and the first 4 this season. He is below average. Shanahan can scheme it up with the best of them and they should have used that money on put talent around an average QB instead of paying an average QB top money to make average players better. ![]()

This year with at least 50 passes 23rd out of 44 with a rating of 88.6
PE/Play 14th out of 44 with .172
LY last 10 games with at least 75 passes 15th out of 43 with a rating of 96.5
25th out of 43 PE/Play with .100
Of course, this includes a retired Carr and an aged Rodgers.
I think he is at least better than 'average'. Because if you examine the numbers in a 2nd half +/-8 point game (1-score) it is consistent.
You have to ask out of the 28-30 that had numbers worse than him would you really rather have replace him and exactly why they would be better if there numbers were worse than his.
Great quarterbacks are so very, very rare. But good quarterbacks are very hard to find as well.
Quarterbacks that make the playoffs are rare. QBs with a SB appearance are rare. QBs with a winning record and winning playoff record are rare.
You can credit coaching, defenses, schemes, etc. -- the QB still has to manage the game.
Look at the mess SF has had at QB after the Smith trade.
Lance, Kaepernick, Gabbert, Beathard, Garoppolo, Mullens and a couple others thrown in.
How many of those would anyone really take over Purdy.
You cannot just be like Chicago and draft a QB every single year and hope they are the next franchise QB.
If SF had not paid him, someone else would have. Then they would be back on the QB carousel.
It is tricky. But I think you have to trust that coach and that GM at this point.
