Sorry for starting another thread but I'm hoping this will get Indigo or someone's attention that can query this. I can't remember in all my years of betting NBA that a 2 seed opened at home as basically a pick em. True, Ws are not a typical 8 seed like Magic and Grizz and that may just be the answer but I'm curious how those games played out when/if there ever were this scenario. Very unusual.

Don’t be fooled. Rockets will come out to play.. this has the feels of the lakers game last night except the rockets are the home team.. I like this team a lot.. young gritty can get in players faces.

You had something similar in the 2021 season when the Suns were the 2nd seed going against the defending Champion Lakers in the Playoffs..
The Suns would win the first game and lose games 2 and 3 but would win games 4,5, and 6 to beat the Lakers in the 1st round..That was the year they would make the Finals but lose to the Bucks..
That's the only time a 7th seed was favored over the 2nd seed was Suns vs Lakers and now with the Rockets and Warriors

Rockets haven’t hosted a playoff game since 2019-2020.
When they last played in Houston in February (with Butler starting), GSW was -1.5 and won 105-98. However, they went 24-27 from the stripe versus 10-18 for Rockets.
I think dubs still win the series but there will be turbulence….beginning with tonight.
Will try to find a stat for you tho SW!

The Golden State Warriors (-200 vs. No. 2 Houston Rockets at @BetMGM) are only the SECOND 7-seed to be favored over a 2-seed in a Round 1 series since 1988 (as far back as @SOHistory database goes).
Other one was 2021 Lakers (-175 vs. No. 2 Suns).
Suns won that series in 6

The warriors are a different team since acquiring Butler, 24-8. Golden State was looking like a team to miss the playoffs and because of the trade, they’re one of the best teams now. Experience matters in playoffs and Houston is lacking in that department against a revitalized team of vets.

Warriors own the Rockets, recent history is very one sided. Rockets win off bully ball, in the playoffs teams turn the defense up and the Warriors were one of the few teams in the nba that also actually tried on defense in the regular season. This is a bad matchup for Houston. They have very inconsistent outside shooting against good defense, Vanvleet is atrocious at shooting, Green is wildly inconsistent, as is Brooks. This team really needs a guy who can camp in the corners for a kick out and stick regularly. They’re young, and emerging, a little more roster building correctly and they’ll be a contender. They’ll be disposed in this series though. Probably in 5 or 6.
