January 2nd, 2009 - ALL NBA teams play - 15 games!

Is this the first time this happened?

I've never seen 15 scheduled games in one night in the NBA. Not even the last day of a season.

The most I've seen is 14 games that I can recall. Perhaps it has been a day where all teams play.

Maybe you recalled the 14 games when the NBA has only 29 teams. so technically, It's the maximum games that can be played in a day.

Let me put it this way then....

since the last expansion team was added, I don't recall seeing 15 scheduled games in the NBA.

It's not like an expansion team was added this year. Who was the last one? Bobcats in 2004?

In 4 years, there have never been 15 games in the NBA in one night?

That's a long time.

VGPOP - I have NBA data from '96 till about March of this year when I stopped collecting data and there have only been 14 days during that period when there have been 14 games .. have not found one for 15 days (11/1/96, 10/31/97, 11/04/00, 04/17/02, 10/30/02, 01/10/03, 04/14/04, 04/20/05, 11/02/05, 12/23/05, 04/19/06, 04/18/07, 02/13/08) so I think you're right .....
 
On another note ... I remember that you responded to a system play somebody posted about taking the average team total/spread to help in the decision for 2 H plays ... do you still have that information?  I cannot find that page anymore and have no idea what happened to it

I'm thinking of betting every game under in the 2nd half and I'm thinking of going 12-3 doing this.  Or maybe just 11-4 if one game f---- me in overtime.

Okay, I won't bet the Philadelphia-Dallas game under in the 2nd half because the Sixers have been a 2nd half over buzzsaw in all four games of their current road trip.

MrBator, I've come to appreciate your comedic and sometimes sarcastic posts...Do these qualify or is there something you predict for tonight's 2nd half lines and are you really considering playing all these unders?

Last Friday, the league was coming off of their short Christmas break (for most of them, anyways), and the league went pathetically dead under in the 2nd half of every game except for Philly-Denver and Toronto-Sacramento ( which each barely crept over in the final seconds).  Tonight, the entire league is in action after the short New Year's break and Lord knows their behavior on New Year's Eve was debaucherous in most cases.  So I'm expecting sluggish, ugly basketball in the 2nd halves tonight.  It's nice to go under 98 and see that they've scored 6 points in the first four minutes of the 3rd quarter.

Do you think Vegas/oddsmakers account for this fact and will adjust the 2nd half totals tonight? Or is it your thought that because most bettors love overs, it will not matter and we will see no adjustment in these lines?

With this logic, why don't you bet all 3rd qtr unders?

Why not just take the 4th period on nba they will be really spent.

No, Consilience, they won't make adjustments for what happened last Friday or for the fact that it was New Year's a couple days ago.  I didn't follow through on my plan, though, because of all the 1st half unders.  Shoulda, woulda, coulda bet a bunch of unders for the game!  Oh well.  The only one I'm on is Cleveland and Chicagi under 196.5, and that one's BIG.

Thanks, tigers56.  Sorry about the Super Bowl.  That is a loss that will bother me for decades.  Anyways, time to start recouping some of that cash and I intend to start doing that with the San Diego Chargers +1.5 over Indianapolis.  The Colts will be losing in the 4th quarter (as usual) and this time there will be no more miracles, just a thorough beating.
