So the C's played a great 1st half winning Q1 by 3 and Q2 by 5(Q4 by 6). They lose the 8 point lead about 3 mins into 3rd quarter. 4 point game with 3:10 left in 3rd. Mia goes on a 15-2 run to end the 3rd. Some Celtics 3rd quarter stats...8 turnovers, 5 shots blocked, 8 missed shots(that's 21 posessions with ZERO points!). Mia made 14 free throws during this collapse and Gabe Vincent played out of his mind hitting 2 3's, getting 10 points, 1 assist & 2 rebounds and BLOCKING Robert Williams twice!! These are not normal things to see happen. Vincent didn't have a block all series vs Philly and his season P/R/A was 9/2/3(for a complete game!).
So we have some things to consider...will there be a complete collapse by the C's in a quarter again with the Heat getting 14 free throws? Will Vincent blow up a quarter again? Will Tatum/Brown play so awful in a quarter that the Heat get easy steals/blocks/buckets to take a huge lead? Doubt it.
The Celtics won quarters 1, 2 & 4 by combined 14 points. When comparing team stats for the game, everything is pretty equal. Mia had 2 more steals and 4 more blocks and 3 less turnovers. The C's had 8 more points in the paint. All the other stats are comparable. Butler needed 41 points and 17/18 FT's made to get an 11 point win.
So we have a game 1 that was basically decided by a mental breakdown by the C's in the 3rd quarter. I don't believe in the 'tired legs' theory but maybe the emotional toll of the 7 game series against the Bucks factored in.
Celtics are now reset into this new series down 1. Everyone would expect them to lose 1 of the 1st 2 in Mia at least. As long as the Celtics play the way they usually do and limit mistakes, I would think they can keep this close and probably get the W. They were favored to win the series after all. It's the NBA & gambling so anything could happen, but I would think the C's play a little better, Mia(Butler) regress a little and the series goes to Boston tied 1-1. Fans would love it, the NBA would love it, the networks would love it. So let's get it! Celtics are the balls!

Lol wow what a write up .. no mention of the miami heat defensive adjustments to cause that 3rd quarter melt down … come back in the 4th lol cmon dude heat let off the accelerator and it took the backups to make that push .. no mention of celtics largest lead of 13 in the game and yet the heat still won by 11… meaning a 24 point turn around … no mention of heat largest lead in the game being 20 … no mention of tatum being bam adebayos son..

I think people fail to see (or acknowledge) that except for the 4th quarter of game 3 against Philly (the game Embiid came back) that Miami has been competitively close in every game.
Celtics shoot 60% in the first half of game 1, no big deal Heat down only 8........
There are no huge Miami meltdowns like you see with other teams......regularly. Miami just plays good basketball. They do everything to their strengths. They are coached extremely well, and they expect each other to be dogs on defense. There are always so many possessions I see when I watch Miami games where they have "active hands" on play after play after play. I think Miami takes less plays off than any other team in the NBA. This makes me root for them. I was not raised a Miami fan, but it is really hard not to like them.
For the ENTIRE 2022 playoffs......there has been 1 QUARTER..........literally 1...........that the Heat have lost by double digits. And only a couple others they were down 8 or 9. It is really hard to make fools of this team. Having said that I am sure I just jinxed them and they get blown out lol..........but it is not likely.
Celtics are tough too....I am not taking anything away from them.....but there is just something about this Heat team that makes me think they are going to the finals again.

If Celtics can remain healthy, they are winning the championship. Yes, Mia is a great team but they don't have the offensive firepower necessary to stay with Boston when they are hitting 3's. Bam is non-existent so far this series and Jimmy Buckets can't do it all. C's going home with momentum and the Heat look confused as to what to do. The only way the C's don't win the championship is if they give games away, which I don't think we are going to see again after what happened in 3rd quarter of game 1. C's are focused and ready to destroy. 7 games to go baby!
**The Heat have only won 1 quarter out of 8 AT HOME this series.**
