What did ESPN do the day of September 11, 2001?

From what I remember, all the cable stations flipped over to the news feed of their sister networks. MTV flipped over to CBS because they're both owned by Viacom, TBS flipped over to CNN, and I presume ESPN flipped over to ABC News, and so on and so forth (the first two I remember for sure because I was curious to see if EVERYONE was going live with it once I got home that day).

That makes sense. Seeing as how most of the people on ESPN are just talking heads that mindlessly read word for word from a teleprompter like Ron Burgundy I was curious if these same people attempted to speak off the cuff about it for an extended period of time.

Aired an Atlanta Braves game. Since the stadium was completely empty it served as a 3 hour moment of silence for the 9/11 events.
I think that was a much better idea than showing a phillies game where people intentionally vomit on children, give beer to toddlers, throw beer bottles at the heads of opposing fans, throw batteries at opposing players, run on the field and make asses of themselves, and just generally act like drunken poor white trash.

"Folks, we have got an ESPN Classic coming up for you during out Darkest Day, and we think it only fitting to show you a rare Yankee/Red Sox game, since they rarely come up that often. It's gonna be Roger Clemens vs. a 12-yr old replacement phenom for the Red Sox, I'm sure you're not gonna wanna miss it......"
"Coming up, Brett Fvaraer has big decision to make for the Packers. Wranglers or Levis? Our own Sal Palantonio has an inside look at why YOU should be leaning toward Levis button-ups. And Suzy Kolber talks to Deanna Favre about some pictures Brett took "using hit little head" whatever that means"
"And Lee Corso just put a turban on his head for some reason........."

Continued blowing the NFL .... NO they had complete coverage of the attacks all day. It was odd. The guys were in studio discussing it . I remember watching. Its about the only thing that can get espn from not talking about the nfl
