I should add that adamjoe is hesitant to have ONE child because of possible financial insecurity…but it's ok for some woman that speaks broken English to pop at 4 kids by age 24 and we have to essentially support them? It's terrible that anyone even has to take that into account when wanting to start a family of their own.

Not tolerate... Ok.... So what happens to her and the 4 kids if they're not tolerated? Let me hear how you would solve the problem. Okay, she never should have put herself in that situation... But she did... Now what?

I think the real concern is not allowing this sort of thing to happen in the first place. Or at least greatly reduce situations like this happening to begin with.
Like I said, I don't have all the answers. But I think we just need to be better at putting a stop to these or at least slowing down these idiotic situations.
I assume you suggest that we just support and enable families like the one in the example you gave?

Yep, instead of attacking the problem head on, this takes the easy way out and puts the burden on others for these people's lack of responsibility.
The reality is they know the problem will never stop and refuse to even to do anything about it.
Its easier just to dip into someone else's pockets.

I have worked with people who have practically begged to get fired so they can apply for government assistance (insurance, etc.). They tell me this directly....like if child support obligations catch up with them, etc.
I can't even begin to tell you how many people I have worked with who turn down jobs because they are collecting unemployment and, "the extra $2.00/hr. Is not worth it because then I will have to pay day care.
Had a guy who was unemployed with a preggy wife turn down a job last week because if he accepted, he would lose his government benefits. Glad I helped pay for that.

And I believe in bad luck and there are deserving people, but the amount irresponsibility out there is beyond belief.
And government employees may not make a ton of money, but their benefits are off the charts. If it was that horrible in terms of total compensation, they could leave. Most do not. Why do you think that is?

Sure, there are cases of people taking advantage of the system. Most of those people are basically living in poverty and aren't learning any skills to get out of poverty.. Are you jealous?
Back to the woman with 4 kids... What should we do? How come nobody is addressing that one?

Because any honest, objective answer will get ridiculed, and picked apart... Very, very, very few here have the capabilities to honestly debate a topic... So the easy answer is make ludicrous comments, and constantly ask ridiculous questions...
I guess we could use them for target practice or slavery.
How is it better to be a fu*k up?

Detox...respond to this comment and maybe you'll find your answer.

my response to that comment is that it's unfortunate, but i'd rather my tax dollars go to 10 families who are lazy and refuse to get a job and sit on their behind all day if the 11th is a legitimate family with kids in need who use that money to make something of themselves. to put it another way, living in the real world, i understand that every program of this scale is going to have its flaws. but rather than scrap the whole thing waiting for that flawless program that never comes i'll take the good with the bad when the good is helping kids and sick people and veterans who need the benefits to survive. this is true especially since i know that rich people and corporations also receive a shitload of benefits (they own the politicians who hand them out, after all) yet for some reason people don't seem to be as concerned about that.
in some people's analyses, the law of handouts and laziness are somehow reversed when the welfare is corporate and for the rich.

Detox...the fact is, people don't want to work nowadays because they know the gov't will not let them fail. Look at Canada or England, yea that have socialized health care, but most people don't want to work becasue; "why work for the extra $2.00 an hr"? The difference between poverty and the middle class are the people that work for the extra few bucks an hour because it is supposed to make a difference. But when the gov't keeps giving then that difference becomes less of a difference. Maybe the lady with 4 kids should have stopped after the first if she knew she couldn't take care of that one. Maybe she should have taken the initiative to look for work or a higher education so she could contribute to the lady that did have the 4 kids.
What they should do for people using the gov't is make them work a few days a week for no pay. The assistance from the gov't is compensation for the few days of work they do around their city: cleaning parks, cleaning streets, painting old buildings, cleaning up graffiti, helping the elderly there is plenty that needs to be done that the city shouldn't have to pay for. Maybe then they will want to actually look and accept jobs because they don't want to keep working for nothing.

You are dead wrong. 25 years in employment here.
I still remember a couple of years ago when the state government shut down in MN. They interviewed a gal who was pregnant and ALREADY had 2 children. She said, "well, if we don't get back to work in a few weeks, we're really going to struggle to make ends meet."
Are you kidding me? You have 3 kids and are living check to check?
Bad luck and STUPID decisions....two different things.
And no, I don't have an answer, but continuing to "reward" irresponsible behavior like that certainly is NOT the answer.

I used to believe that the majority were straight up and deserving. Unfortunately, that is not the case at all.
I don't doubt at ALL that the upper class/corporations/politicians are corrupt and that they steal as well. But stealing is stealing no matter what your economic status is. If you're going to go after the corporations, why not also go after less wealthy?
And like it or not, the companies that receive a "shi$load" of benefits....many of them pay taxes....employ people who pay taxes and buy things. These INDIVIDUALS who steal add NOTHING.

i know you've seen a lot of freeloading deadbeats. i can assure you, i've seen them too and i see the worst of them because i'm usually seeing them on the criminal side. it's far from ideal but there are a lot of people who need and deserve a lot of help so for me and i'd rather they get what little we give them.
don't they pay taxes when they buy garbage with their extra couple hundred a month. when corp execs get a few million off the top of already record profits and stow it away somewhere, do we get a tax receipt from that?

People think the problem is at the bottom? Poor people have it too easy? Is that the argument? Who is jealous of somebody living off of the government? If you're jealous of somebody on food stamps... You need more help than I can give you.

My taxes already go into paying kids I don't have like foodstamps and medical, why I should I get penalized twice? Because some Socialist says I have to support people who are dumber than me?
