05-06: top 5 Wisky (9-1) again loses to the two best conference foes, badly!... Penn St (35-14) and Iowa (20-10)... they did beat Auburn in what turned out to be a very low profile Bowl Game, in a subpar year for the Tigers...
just a couple of examples... they did beat UCLA handily in the Rose Bowl a few years back... but for the most part, they are fade material in any major bowl game against a high caliber team...
if they land in a mid-level bowl game then it's a totally different story... but this team never has (in my lifetime) been a team that can be relied upon to win a big game against a top tier opponent...

Wisky is not over-rated. Their RB's are three deep w/ John Clay (Bruiser), Montee Ball, and James White (Speedster). Senior-laden Offensive line (2 future NFL-er in 1st rd Carimi and Moffitt), QB Tolzien (75% completion) and TE Kendricks.
Ill put up 500+ running yds on NW at NW. Wisky has better running game and game is at Wisky.

To JW23. That Wisky/Miami bowl game last year was on a sloppy field so Miami did have more team speed, however Wisky dominated up front on both sides of the ball that even if they played on turf they would have won. It would have been closer though.
If you take away NW big returns and defensive plays last week Ill would have won by 50. I don't see Wisky making the same mistakes and they should roll. However, will they be motivated???

Lot of better plays on the board! Good luck all!
Since I watch all their games I'll clue you in.....
They are motivated!!!!!!!!
There's a different toughness to this years team. The focus has been razor sharp as evident by the few number of penalties they get. Sadly, it seems as though the loss to Sparty is what helped shape the team. If Wisky played Mich St now, they would absolutely destroy them but that's how CFB goes.

Thx Phatty and DBarsch. I agree they would crush MSU now. I just think this is a tough game to get up for. They should roll by 30+ but I'm worried about the back door cover in this game. Then again NW backup is not very good so who knows! What will motivate them to blow out NW in this game?
Speaking of MSU I think they get exposed at PSU this week. I live just outside of Philly and my girl went to PSU. PSU fans are BEYOND annoying so I typically route and bet against them, however; they are running the ball well, have stabilized the QB position, and are playing solid D. MSU has had a nice run but got smoked in their only test on the road against Iowa. PSU by 10+. And yes, I did properly use a semicolon in my writeup so now you have to take State Pen, I mean Penn State.

Not to be a homer....but I must agree....Wisky would look at Mich St. now and absoultley run over their asses for 50 + pts. and may not even get bored with the 2nd half of the game and give them a little more of the ground and pound game into the end zone....

AGREED WITH DBARSCH. LIKE IT OR NOT WHISKY WOULD BE NUMBER 1 IF THEY WOULDN'T SHIT IN THEIR PANT'S AGAINST MSU. IF OSU WAS PLAYING AS DOMINANT AS WHISKY, EVERYONE IN THE COUNTRY WOULD SAY IT WAS THE BEST TEAM IN THE COUNTRY. HOWEVER, MOST PEOPLE IN THE COUNTRY ARE CONDITIONED TO BELIEVE CERTAIN THINGS, FOR EXAMPLE, IF SOMETHING COST MORE , IT MUST BE THE BEST, (SORRY FOR ALL STARBUCK BUYERS), THE YANKEE'S SHORTSTOP IS THE BEST IN BASEBALL, BRETT FARVE IS THE BEST QB IN FOOTBALL, STUDENT'S AT IVY LEAGUE SCHOOL'S ARE BRIGHTER THAN STUDENT'S WHO ATTEND BIG TEN, OR PACK TEN SCHOOL,ECT. PEOPLE ARE CONDITIONED TO THE LOGO ON THE HELMENT AND NOT THE CONTENT OF WHO'S IN THE HELMENT OR WHO IS PULLING THE STRINGS ON THE SIDELINE. GOOD LUCK TO ALL.

DP, hear what you are saying about "brand name recognition" and all of that... i am not coming from that angle at all, but i do see where from that standpoint there is at least good value on Wisky...
i am coming from the standpoint of knowing what types of athletes Wisky gets year in and year out, and how that translates on a big stage against a fast, athletic (in other words, non-Big 10) team...
it doesn't... i would pay 50% juice just to have a chance to bet on Boise against Wisconsin...

Wisconsin is a good football team...but not great.
Most of the teams in the Big Ten don't have speed at the skill positions and don't have a QB who can throw down the field.
ASU had speed and it gave Wisconsin fits... MSU has speed and they took them to the wood-shed.
I think a team like Boise- Oregon- Auburn will roll Wisconsin. Wisconsin has size ...and on neutral fields in pristine conditions I will take speed over size
Wisconsin is a different team right now than they were earlier in the year...both their lines are playing excellent football. And I know Wisconsin, to a lot of people, are not considered to be great because they do not play an "exciting" type of offensive football. However, there is nothing more demoralizing than having the football ran down your throat. And they can do that. With 3 different RBs. All I heard in the bowl game last year was that Wisconsin had no chance against Miami because they lacked speed...and Miami had so much speed and speed kills...well, that one didn't turn out so well for the speed team. They got smacked in the mouth over and over and the game got ugly.
I am not saying Wisconsin is this unbelievably great team that should be considered for the National Championship game, not at all, but I think a lot of people don't give them the credit they deserve because of the style of football they play.

well, i have posted my CFB betting and viewing experience in here many times... is that how you know you have watched as much or more CFB than me?
or are you just talking out your ass?
im assuming we've both watched quite a bit but you're "not sure how long you've been watching CFB" line is a bit insulting considering i've been posting here for 6+ years and u've been here a month. I'm not saying ive watched more nor saying u being here a month means ive watch more, just responding to ur slight and am going to do some research into where wisky has been when rated that high. I know we've won the last 3 rose bowls we've played, 2 as underdogs in 94 and 99 both to UCLA. we were favs vs stanford in 2000 and won and coverd. so the only "major" bowls we've played in by ur acct are the 3 Rose Bowls in the last 16 years and we've won and covered all three. Every other bowl is a mid-level bowl. Since 2000, we are 5-4 in bowls, all mid level and beat auburn, arkansas, Miami, ucla and colorado and lost to georgia, Florida State, Auburn and Tenn, i'd call it 4-4 vs "high caliber oppenents"(fuk colorado) i know we were like 8 or 9 and ark was 4 or 5 when we beat them in 2006, dont see why that is sub-par ark team with mcfadden and ranked 4 or 5. my point is its hard to say overrated or that we are fade material in big bowls. with the success they've had in the last 5 weeks, 5 wins(vs #1 and #10, at the time), 5 covers and we will see how they do in the bowl cause they're going to the Rose Bowl and by ur acct hopefully they're playin a "high caliber" opponent. Its all good man and good luck, maybe u'll get ur chance to lay -50 cause i'm hopin they dont invite stanford cause they wont have to sice oregon will be in NC game and give the broncos an invite to pasadena. I went to the 94 Rose and layed 600 on wisky plus 6 @ the IP in vegas while driving to the game and picked up 12hundge for the ride home. good fukin days

and i realize the 4-4 arent vs high caliber but neither were we considered high caliber, stuck in the low teens but the ark win put us top 5 and the 1st rose bowl win vs ucla made us top 5, or should i say in both instances Number 5. ur point about getting up there the other two times is well taken. They had chances to stay up there and couldnt
