After a thorough scan of the forum, a few games stand out...
San Jose St/Stanford...
A lot of great cappers on SJSt. Money hovering around 50%... I remember playing against Stanford early last year and paying dearly for it. Didn't SJSt lose their top-notch LB to injury? I have't seen ONE poster on Stanford... hmm
Toledo/Mizzou... Again, a lot of big dogs on the dog here (with the exception of Train). Was the Fla defense that great, or is Toledo perhaps falling short of expectations?... I smell a rat.
Ark St/Aub... money around 50%... One poster noted Malzahn's familiarity with the Arky St players... well said
Any time I see 50% or better on the doggie, I have to take a long hard look at the fav.

My point is that San Jose St, Toledo, Wazzu and Ark St (to a lesser extent) are getting a LOT of love on the forum and they're all dogs with 50+% of the money currently.
Not ONE Stanford play, only ONE Mizzou play (Train), VERY FEW Auburn plays (notably Boom), and only ONE SoCal play that I've seen throughout the forum.
In my experience, public dogs are generally not a good thing.

I'm on USC. However, if you think Wazzu is over-rated for playing Auburn close, well then you should also think Auburn is over-rated. I'll take Arky State too.

I wouldnt judge the few post on here as public consensus. I think in general, people are starting to bet dogs more than ever before. The internet has obviously helped get stats/info in the hands of people and other info is readily available (suspensions/injury etc).
I think of the games you listed you will see a split. Couple dogs will cover, couple favs will cover. I'm on Mizz and Wazzou right now, and looking at SJSt.....doubt I touch the Auburn game, but the Tigers are who I lean to.....

I'd venture a guess that the majority of the coin was coming in on Florida in that game.
I agree that I did see alot of Toledo plays on the forum last week, though, so I do see your point.
There are a lot of folks here sporting winning records from opening week. While I wish that the majority of the forum would maintain a winning record throughout the year, that simply wont be the case.
Unfortunately, in general, if 98% of the forum is on a given play, that play will have a tendency to lose. On top of that, public dogs dont traditionally fare well.
I get the value on Toledo. Hell, I haven't even played against them... yet. I may or may not play the other games either. I started out with SJSt, Toledo, Wazzu, and Arky St on my card. Then I saw so many othrs on the same play that it made me dig a little deeper.
I was just curious if others had made this observation.

It's not about who's over or underated. Sometimes its about style of play or other situational factors (such as SoCal visiting lala land in Hawaii last week). We all take in these factors and others to foulate an opinion of who will win the game, and when we're all on the same dog, it sometimes spells trouble. Again, I'm not locking in anything until Saturday. I'll still keep an eye on line movement and any other team tidbits I can gather before then. My card might include all 4 of those doggies... who knows?

Train... mad props my brutha, you're a legend here! I appreciate you stoppin by bro.
I know what you're saying, but we all have these new tools at our disposal and, somehow in the end, Vegas will take this into consideration and make lines that give them the same advantage over the players in the long haul. We kind of ARE the public here on Covers and when I see a team getting 50 posts to 1, I have to take a step back and at least scrutinize it a little bit.
I agree with you. I don't think those games will go 4-0 for the dogs or favs. I'm still undecided as to which sude I'll be on for any if them, or whether I'll play any of them at all... hell, who am I kidding? I'll fo SOMETHING with those games!
Can you give me your point of view on the Mizzou game? I def see the 'value' in Toledo with a traditionally potent offense, but I wonder if Mizzou learns from the Florida game implements a similar defense approach (Yes, I know Mizzou doesn't have a defense like the Gators).
What a about SJSt? Didn't they lose their stud LB last week? I think Stanford can legitimately content for the NC this year. They shut people down and burned me early and often last year. I'm not sure SJSt will be able to score... maybe at all. Could be a slow, methodical Stanford win.
