Can someone explain why the line went from -36.5 to -35 ?? Isn't Florida supposed to win by like, 50 points? Everyone is on the Gators yet the line drops? What does U-Mass have to score a single point against an SEC team on the road?

round number - 5 TD's, that's all I can come up with...I don't think MASS will get past the 50 yard line for 3.5 quarters...IF Fla does not have the motivation to absolutely blow them out, after losing to Mich by 31 and losing their last 3 games in 2015, then something wrong with them...35 is a lot of chalk for perceived sh^t O like Floridas. I think we all hope they will find their mojo...

But is this not the similar type of game as last year's opener vs NMSU?
Sure Florida's offense sucks. But how is U-Mass gonna stop ANYONE? Isn't U-Mass worst than last year's NMSU? Or the worst team for that matter? I mean worst than Charlotte, worst than Miami-OH.. you get the idea..

2. Lost a good looking rookie NFL slot receiver (111 catches at UM)
3. Decent Back (Florida will stop the run) on 140 rush/ypg
4. Defense was bad and only has 3 starters returning
5. I'm pretty sure they allowed 50% 3rd down conversions
6. Only 15% of the offense returns
7. Only 34% of defense returns
Florida should steam roll. The key is the ability to RUN and STOP the run. Florida should take a big lead and keep adding because UMASS won't stop the run.
UMASS also has a new QB starting in the swamp with a lot of NFL talent. Florida DC/ old Miss St. DC was really good in these games vs. Memphis, etc.

if UF doesn't score at least 42 points in this game it would be a very disappointing showing.. The reason the line has gone down I would imagine is because there are a ton of suspensions for starters in this game for the Gators and a few more to come possibly. As of now, there's like 4 starters out for the game and Tabor is one of them and possibly the best WR on the roster in Callaway. Either way the defense should suffocate them and cause turnovers and probably even score once or twice from it if not setting up very short fields for the offense. Florida is very under the radar this year because of how last season ended, what people fail to realize is the Gators have upgraded ENORMOUSLY on offense by not only the subtraction of Harris at QB one of the worst all time at UF but added the #1 WR class with many young talented guys. The offense at UF will be the best it has been since 09, there are 3 very good RB's, Scarlett, Cronkrite and the Juco incomer fighting for the starting spot in Mark Thompson. All three are massive guys, Mcelwain has got backs like he did at Bama size wise, the OL should be much improved as they were starting 3 true freshmen last year and none of them were enrolled in the spring. They have some very talented pass catchers at the TE position in Goolsby and and lewis. Dre Massey is a name everyone will know by week 4 that was a juco and is tearing it up in camp.. Also, their best slot that was a huge weapon last year is finally healed up and it hurt them badly when he was injured the end of last season, he had foot surgery in the off season and is back at full go in Brandon Powell. Tyrie Cleveland was I believe the #2 overall WR that will start as a true Freshman as well, very talented with big time speed. The Gators finally have guys to stretch the field for the first time in half a decade and great slot guys in an offense that finally has some potential. Luke Del Rio at QB could possibly be very good for the Gators as he is in his 3rd year of college and was there last year and knows the playbook, people said all of last year that if he was eligible he would have ultimately been the starter over Will Grier. Even if he is just a game manager that's a huge upgrade as he will limit turnovers and has weapons to get the ball in the hands of and a run game to balance it out for him. Could be a lot like Mcelroy when Mac was Bama OC. I see no reason why they don't come out and put a stomping on a bad Umass team in front of a sell out crowd the night they are naming the Swamp as Steve Spurrier field, which has always been very involved in the offense with the staff since his return as well.. The fact that people expect UF to somehow be worse or the same as last year is mind boggling to me, they must not be doing their homework with this roster and 12 returning starters. If the Gators remain healthy they could be a very dangerous team this season for sure and a very serious contender to repeat as East Champions in the SEC with the most favorable schedule they have had in at least ten years. This game should be a rout and I expect it around 49 or 56 plus to 3 and Umass may not score at all. Im laying the points here, the Gators have the longest winning streak on opening weekend in the nation and are very good in the first game at home historically. It's Gators or nothing in this matchup in my eyes, either way people will see how improved the offense is in the first few weeks of the season...

I'm in Colorado and watched what McElwain did with Colorado State in a very short amount of time. Now he's back to the SEC and he can recruit with the best of them. I looked at some of the numbers and I think McElwain has his guys open up a can of industrial-strength whoop behind just to get the rabid home fans in The Swamp even more crazy. Gonna be a long day for the crew from Amherst, MA

The issue is where does the 36 come from. Even with the best player on defense Tabor suspended, I don't doubt for a second the Gators ability to force a shutout. But where is the 36 going to come from on offense? They do get a huge upgrade at kicker and with some JUCO transfers, but that is it. Saying del Rio is an upgrade from Harris is like saying Obama is an upgrade from Bush. Del Rio is a significant downgrade from Grier in every aspect of the game. The fact del Rio starts proves how sad the Gators qb situation is. Del Rio is a 3-star prospect what couldn't battle for 2nd string on most Power-5 teams..
Most of the work from the running game needs to come from incoming transfer Thomoson who is a fairly good back. Scarlett and Cronkite who you mentioned are average backs. Despite a significant number of carries last year, they were only 100-yard backs. Callaway is not suspended as you said and comes into the game as the Gators best receiver. However, Cleveland who you praised among others have been arrested and are suspended. I just don't like the Gators size and physicality at WR. Their starting WRs average about 5'9". I just don't see the Gators scoring 5 TDs on offense. They will need the defense to produce some points to hit 36
Good luck this year however. I am staying away from the game so hope it works out in your favor. Cheers.

Let's not forget this Gators team averaged 9.5 points the last 4 games of the season. In those 4 games, the Gators produced 3 offensive scores. A trick play WR throw against Michigan, 0 against FSU, 1 against Alabama, and 1 during 4 quarters against FAU.

I was simply comparing how terrible the Gators offense was without Will Grier. On top of his absence this year, the Gators lose 2 out of their 3 major weapons. You have player suspensions on both sides of the ball. Their starting QB is an absolute nobody. Where are the Gators going to come up with 36 points. There is just no comparison that late in the season with UMass. The closest comparison would be FAU. A team the Gators were able to put up only 1 offensive touchdown against. Against Vandy only 1 offensive TD. Are they better than UMass? Obviously. However, they are bottom dwellers that bottom to mid FBS teams
If you watch UMass football, you know they play cupcake against lots of top tier teams. Even against teams far superior than the Gators on the offensive side of the ball, such as ND, they never came close to giving up a 36 point spread.

Florida is not downgrading whatsoever on offense, they are loaded with WR's finally and last year in camp Del Rio would have started over Grier if he didn't have to sit out the year. Many people close to the program watched practices and said so. He's a 3rd year player and knows the offense being there for 2 years. The OL is much improved and so is every single position on the field, don't let treons nonsense blind you from what took place in the 2nd half of the season last year, he was somehow even worse than driskel. The offense will be drastically better, you will see in the first few weeks. Even if it wasn't, just from limiting turnovers and with the defense they possess they would cover this spread on a bad team like umass. They will be close to covering or covering by the half. Umass is going to get smashed on Spurrier night

Cheers.
Gators have a top-3 defense in the tough SEC. They have an offense that wasn't very good last year and Mac wants to get the O
on track before hosting Kentucky to open the SEC. Del Rio is the new QB and Florida will score at will against the worst team in big boy football. This game will be over at halftime.

Like I said guys, absolutely no chance Florida scores 36 points in this game... even against UMass. Leading rusher with 70 yards, TEs combined for 28 yards, only two WR's over 38 yards. Only 2 offensive TD's all game. Going to be a long, long season for Florida's offense.
How about that kicker though?? Piniero was on fire.
