Won the first big play last night with the Auburn/Baylor over. Loads of games today but also loads of question marks as teams take to the field in a new season. With the portal and the transfers it's going to make some teams look way overrated once the season ends and others at great value. I know the Texas/OSU game takes the prize, and while I like Texas I just can't make them a play in what is really a toss up game.
NORTHWESTERN (+4.5): I fully realize this was a few points higher earlier in the week but I think it's been brought down for good reason. Still, with the Tulane stud QB Mensah having sold out to Duke, they now have 4 new QBs they will be shuffling in and out. Maybe that's a good way of playing things for the first couple of weeks, but that won't hod throughout the season. Northwestern on the other hand got a solid transfer QB from SMU in Preston Stone, thought their offensive pieces aren't much stronger than they were last season. On the flip side of the ball, the NW defense is really really solid and I think it will really disrupt what Tulane wants to do on offense. Since I don't think the Green Wave defense has done much to improve, I'm grabbing the points here in what could be an outright win for NW.
UNDER 51.5 (SYRACUSE/TENNESSEE)...BIG PLAY!!!: I was at first a bit nervous making this a big play but then kept reminding myself the reason for that nervy feeling is I was comparing these teams to their 2024 versions, and both are vastly different. In fact, both sides welcome in new signal callers as well as new running backs, though Tennessee is just handing the starting role to who was their backup last year. Regardless, I don't see either of these teams just flying off on the right foot with new pieces on offense and new coordinators. I hate playing UNDERS as big plays but when they appear destined to win, I'll bite.
There are a couple other games that I like later in the day and just need a bit to lock those in. I hope everyone has had a solid start to the campaign this year and that today will be an incredibly profitable day. As always, tail or fade, good luck to all...
