First off, as a G'town fan this game scares the crap outta me.
This situation screams UConn. As various posters have noted almost every trend favors UConn. G'town 9 game win streak- due for a loss, coming off emotional win, back to back road games, UConn won 6 of last 7 at home vs G'town.
However, from a matchup standpoint I actually really like this matchup for the Hoyas. UConn relies exclusively on their guards to score. Shut down Boatright and Nappier and you win. G'town D is No.1 in the nation on the road. They hold opposing offenses to 29% from 3 and UConn is going to need to hit 3's to win this game because they don't have any big men capable of scoring. The Hoyas biggest weakness is they are not a good rebounding team, but UConn is even worse. I could very easily see G'town D frustrating UConn into hoisting long 3's over their zone and then G'town cleaning the glass limiting their second chance opportunities. The key for UConn will be transition. They will need to score some easy baskets if they want to win this game.
On offense I like Porter's chances of another big game. UConn's best defenders play on the perimeter. Porter should be able to get his in this game. If UConn overreacts and tries to take Porter out of the game with double teams I think Starks and DSR should be able to make them pay. Don't overreact to the Cuse game. Porter is great, but not as good as he was that game(he's not great at creating hsi own shot) and on the flip side his teammates are much better than what they showed. G'town is not a one man band as everyone seems to think. DSR went for 33 the game before Cuse - the kid can fill it up. Starks and Lubick can also score as well. Lubick may be in for a big game since UConn doesn't have the bigs to bang with him.
Hope this helps. GLTA
