interesting topic. well, since im not american you cant use that on me and I dont hate the country either.
back towards the middle part of this decade, when the German Mens team was busy clobbering everybody, they had a Friendly one time vs some creampuff; were up 7-0 in something like the 85th minute. ran to retrieve the ball, got a quick throw-in, 3-4 passes later and BANG!! 8-0. in an interview afterwards, I cannot remember whom it was but think it was Mueller, when asked 'why such a hurry when the game was already in hand" his reply????
"its not our problem they cant stop us". euro qualifiers, WC qualifiers are littered with low scoring american football results.
to the guy complaining about them celebrating........ chr*st!!! they arent robots.
"completely missing the point....." since its the womens game, lets talk about the "womens game" then shall we. this is the World Cup for godsakes. the one time every 4 years where they are in the spotlight. so let them enjoy it. its like watching badminton in the Olympics - I cant believe I just admitted this, HEY.... it was a SLOW day OK - nobody pays attention to it till every four years.
"These women are high level amateur soccer players at best" these women are porfessional athletes whom make the same amount of sacrifices as their male counterparts. this forum continues to amaze me.
dont know how this is with the americans, we're heading into that 'culture' talk of this topic. but in many countries out here, the ladies make an even BIGGER sacrifice than the mens teams do in a sense of the matter. simply because what society/culture 'dictates' what they SHOULD be doing.
ya know just recently down south in italy some municipality just passed a LAW allowing women & children to attend soccer matches. wrap your head around that for a second, we're in 2019. anyways...
im not suggesting this gives USA "freedom to do whatever they want" but if youre going to talk about womens soccer, then any discussion HAS to start with the USA. the womens game is at where its at because of USA. a few years ago the gals over there pushed for that 'equality' thing, especially related to pay (im not all too versed into the details of what happened and dont know the results so my apologies for anything incorrect) but that sent aftershocks throughout europe when the news broke. it gave the womens federations a platform to build on and though theyll never achieve the same status as mens the sport has really grown out here giving recognition. when Italy won 4 days ago they made front page news, which is something I can honestly tell you would NEVER have happened 4 years ago. so the general feeling is the rest of the europe, the resentment isnt as large "its USA".
by the way.... Germans won their opener 10-0 last WC. - and dont tell me we're going to start nitpicking the difference between 10 & 13 goals - it barely hit the newswires. Germans scored 4 times in the final 20 minutes too. and the excitement on their sidelines was just the same. its funny how some people/media "cherry-pick" when they want to get angry over something.
in a way, it's even funnier.......... had usa won just 3-0 yesterday with 80% posession the rest of the world would have been thinking "theyre vulnerable".
so Cody is spot-on with this. nobody would mention a darn thing if it wasnt USA. there always seems to be more sensitivity towards this from out there.
and ohhh..........by the way fellas.... a year ago that Thailand team won a qualifier 11-0 in a match where the difference in class was every bit as wide as yesterday. so perhaps you shouldnt be feeling so sorry for them.
