Too many crap teams not willing to spend any money and just throwing away a whole seasons to wait on the minor system to develop. Dealt with this for roughly 20 years in KC and it finally worked and we had 2 good seasons including a World Series. FAst forward a couple years and we are back to the bottom of the league with about 4 real major league players on the roster and a bunch of jokers. Same story in several other markets. Put out a crap product get crap attendance.

Like every other sport in America, tv ratings and the tv deals with networks to air games are what matters .. so yes, baseball will exist in the future ..

When you deal with Ford, GM, Budweiser or a dozen other companies you are paying for every empty seat in every stadium or arena. You don't really think the Green Bay Packers survive on 8 home games and one exhibition a year do you? Advertising pays the bills lines the pockets, and consumers have not dried up yet.
Now and then even a BLIND squirrel can find an acorn

Baseball DOES NOT know who their audience is. They keep promoting these gay pride nights (turn on the Red Sox game tonight and look what they put behind the pitcher's mound) and are taking the Yankees and Red Sox to England to play in a city that elected a Muslim terrorist sympathizer as their mayor! I have not seen President Trump throw out a first pitch or even appear at a game. They made all these bizarre rule changes to keep players safe? What ever happened to next man up?! The umpires appear to be clueless as we saw last night in Atlanta. These are just a handful of reasons I won't be spending any money at any ballpark this year or for the foreseeable future.
I am however a gambling degenerate and played baseball up through JC so it's hard to walk away completely. I'm pretty much glued to the MLB Network. One of the few good decisions they've made in recent years.

Probabaly ticket revenues arent that big of a deal when compared with ad revenues but it IS disconcerting to watch a game
where nobody is in the stands. I guess we stay home and stream it for free?
The blackout rules aren't really effective anymore because of free-for-view sports and IMO are a big problem for teams to deal with.
I'm thinking some of these proposed rule changes for next year will even F things up more....

Mass open border type immigration is bringing a lot of new people who simply don't like baseball. Many of them call soccer "football" and will never watch an MLB or NFL game. It's a demographics thing. Baseball was America's game for many years but then people stopped having big families and the population growth is coming from immigration. MLB isn't even on TV in most countries, soccer is.
Yah...that I think is true.
To get a lifetime loyal baseball fan they pretty much need to be interested in baseball when they are young.

Yah...that I think is true. To get a lifetime loyal baseball fan they pretty much need to be interested in baseball when they are young. What % of Floridians are lifetime US citizens?
Baseball is booming in the Caribbean. People complain that the sport doesn't have enough black players, but it is loaded with Hispanics.
What percentage of the USA are lifetime citizens? What percentage of the USA are actual natives of this country? Unless you can trace your ancestry to indigenous tribes, don't even bother answering. You, like me are an immigrant.

Highest percentage of non-US representation in MLB is the Dominicans.

Actually its pretty funny everyone including Trump considers themselves they are not immigrants. Putting immigration apart, baseball will exist in 50 years but it wont be a major sport. Soccer will take it over as 3rd major sport in the country or even may be 2nd.
I've heard that narrative since I was growing up in the 80's. It's one of the highest participation sports among children in the USA, but also has the highest dropout rate. I've always thought a sport which doesn't allow you to utilize your hands was unnatural.

need to shorten the season take away some teams or create new system that puts teams that are in the playoffs the previous season goes in a different divison(8) top 8 get in and rest play play for the other two spots in a different divison the ones bottom feeders or who did not make playoff the previous season
top divison ny boston tampa bay(maybe) phi atl nym (big market teams at first then...)

then the rest of league plays in the other league same play each other in league 20-25 times etc...

It's cheap to play, almost anything can be made into a ball and have kids dreaming of being Pele. I think it's unnatural that some countries have soccer schools in which kids grow up living in. You can't have a very bright future if your entire education is soccer and you don't make the cut in a poor nation. Baseball isn't going anywhere but the number of people who play and enjoy it aren't keeping up with immigration. By-product of the "career over family" movement that is keeping the population from growing(without migration).
Good point. I always prioritize faith, family, finance in that order. It's amazing how many times a family member or friend will blow you off because they have to work. Americans in particular are at the top of the work hours per year, but very middling in overall productivity. It's because we've been pressured to believe the only way to get ahead is to outwork the competition. Unfortunately, that comes with consequences.
