HOU had beaten MIA 42-23 @ Home and improved record to 5-3 becoming relevant in the divisional and playoff race.
They then go on the road to face DEN a bye and then WAS, they survive DEN with the aid of a missed FG as time expires
and after a well deserved bye and having improved record to 6-3 they struggle in WAS and eke out a narrow victory.
They scored 19 and won in DEN and scored 23 and won in WAS. Watson throws regularly for about 200 in all his road games except
TEN and INDY, divisional opponents whose defenses he sees more often where he threw for 300 and change.
Lastly the game at Home vs INDY was the 3rd game in a 3 game Homestand, with the first 2 being blowouts over TEN & CLE and failing to
throw for 300 in any of those contests. I think alot of this is just the product of the team reading its own press clippings and deciding they
don't need to play with the same urgency they did when they were repairing their 0-3 start. Indy to them being 2 games behind, that loss
seems like a distant memory and I feel will fail to produce the urgency that is needed to put out a max effort to win and cover a large 7 pt line
on the road.
The Jets going 1-1 on their recent road trip blowing a large lead in TEN as a 9 pt underdog and losing 26-22 and BUF where they kicked and
clawed to stay in the game until they stole it in the last minute 27-23 as 4 pt dogs. One only needs to refer to the game with INDY where they
won 42-34 at Home in the 2nd game of a 2 game Homestand where they took the 1st at Home to DEN 34-16.
Today will be the 1st of a 2 game Homestand next week they host GB and I see a cover and a win starting the same type of successful homestand.
Their recent two games were against very solid defenses and they were able to keep games close, HOU is far from that pourous pass defense.
They face a QB who plays far worse on the road and a running game that fails to show up at critical junctures in the season. ie. Home to INDY.
O'Brien not a scary good coach so I can see Bowles staying with in terms of strategy and as for ENUWA and CROWELL being out, the 1st is a
loss of a possession receiver and the 2nd is a power back with limited breakaway ability. ROBBY ANDERSON isa much more dangerous threat to
get behind that weak secondary and when you watch the game you'll see ELIJAH McGUIRE is much more shifty and a better asset to dump the
ball off to as a safety valve.
There's no reason Jets can't stay in this game and I give them a shot to win it. I see HOU struggle on the ROAD and lose 30-24.
