What is this crap? The Nationals send out Max Scherzer, THE BEST starter in baseball, and the Yankees send out Luis Severino, one of the best in the A.L., and get shut out by Derrick Holland and Seth Lugo? Talk about taking a day off, sheesh! I didn't have either of those teams, so no harm to me, but I feel sympathy for those that did. Those are Hall of Shame performances by the Nationals and Yankees.
Now and then even a BLIND squirrel can find an acorn

Tho National's have been playing well lately their better players have been struggeling at the plate (harper). NL looks very weak and Nationals are what they are and at end of day will be first round exit. shouldn't be favored -300 any day

Hats off to the opposing pitchers and their teams' bullpens. I watched most of the Mets game. Seth Lugo pitched a gem; he shut out the best hitting team in MLB. First time all year.
And Holland too. Giants deserved to win. They have a better line up than the Nats right now. No shame in a shutout, bud, just good pitching.

it seems like the best pitchers routinely get very little run support. i haven't crunched any numbers on this. C sale comes to mind, kershaw too. seems like they are always in a battle

Video games have ruined the minds of great cappers...don't let yourself become another victim...athletes are humans, not robots...just because certain players have incredible stats doesn't mean they are automatically going to continue at that pace...cmon bro, I thought you were better than starting a thread like this "amateur hour whinefest"

Not really. I know they've won a few games, but for the month of June their team batting average and OPS are in the bottom 5 of the entire league.

Video games?
Wake up and smell the coffee. I probably pay less attention to video games than any person under 80. What I object to, and several other posts allude to it, are supposedly professional hitters taking the day off when their stud duck is on the hill. The term "professional" implies that you give you give your best every time out, regardless of who is taking the ball. Gibson, Ford, Koufax etc., got a lot of 1 and 2 run wins in low scoring games because the professional hitters of their day did not take the day off.
