Never a good idea to bet on a player you love, just because you love them. Just look at all the folks who lost their shirts betting on Sugarpova against Muguruza, even though the woman is way past her tennis prime and moves around the court like a robot. And that brings us to Halep, a woman who has cost bettors dearly over the years, even though she is in her prime. Halep's problems have always been mental, and just when you thought she had finally overcome her psychic fragility and was ready to win a big one, you were submitted to an excruciating, tortuous loss (that felt like death) in three sets. Two French Open losses and one Aussie Open loss later, and here we are again, knocking on the doorstep of a victory that this tennis goddess surely deserves.
I am not going to lie to you, I have great misgivings about this bet, only because I've seen this movie way too many times. But I'm a sucker when it comes to, let's call her hope, and I am hoping the little vixen has turned the corner and is finally ready to claim what is rightfully hers. To me, she looked like a different player these last two matches. But then again, I am biased. I did not sense/see any doubt in her game (even when down a set to Kerber) only an obstinate will and a desire to finally finish the job! But that can all change come Saturday morning, with the pressure of another final.
The x's and o's will not mean as much in this match as the mental toughness and fortitude of each player. Both players know each other well. Stevens has more power, but both players play a similar style of tennis (turning defense into offense) and both cover the court extremely well. The only difference is that Halep's best on clay is better than Stevens' best on clay. And if Halep plays her best, she will take home her first slam. But I'm sure you have heard that before.

Sloane is playing great but I truly believe it's Halep's time. She breaks through. Great player and well deserved to be a major champion. Unlike some major women's champions, weird to say.
