1. Capela is better than Iggy and almost as impactful as Draymond for the Rockets.
2. Rockets aren't flawed, they've been the best team in the NBA all year and have pulverized their 1st Round opponents in a similar manner to the Warriors.
3. "running on fumes" LOL-the Rockets are getting as much rest as the Warriors and you haven't seen them play their best ball yet either
4. Inexperience hasn't stopped all the Celtics all year.
5. You say Cavs will not make the mistakes Philly made but they repeadedly choked away big leads and gave up big leads to the Indiana Pacers all series in the 1st Round.
6. The Rockets bench is much better than the Warriors.
7. How is Boston more flawed than a Cavs team giving Jeff Green and Cedi Osman major minutes? The Warriors are trotting out Quinn Cook, Jordan Bell and a decrepit Shaun Livingston off the bench for christ sakes.

I guess yo havent't seen the warriors play in the postseason...in the regular they had nothing to prove and were coasting all the time...
but in the playoffs things changed fast.they have more phisiality than the rockets, and are more intense...have igoudala and thompson to matchup very well vs the best players of the rockets. And to add, they have only 2 players who can really make plays and pass the ball. How many the warriors have?

Ariza and PJ Tucker are capable ball handlers. Capela wasn't named an All-Star but he's been one of the best 5 players in the playoffs this year.
The Rockets have coasted through this regular season and playoffs too. This is CP3's moment...he wants this championship more than anybody on the Warriors does.

LOl. If only wanting meant getting or having. He wanted it when he was on the Clippers too. When he chocked away game 5 in OKC with the series tied 2-2. He wanted it when the Clippers were up by 19 at home against the Rockets in game 6, only to choke that away as well.

CP3 was the reason they were even in those series. He's trading that choke artist Griffin away for James Harden and crybaby DeAndre Jordan for Clint Capela.
How many times have Curry and KD choked in their careers? Draymond is the only Warrior that shows up for every playoff game.

It's also why I think Brad Stevens will need at least a game to adjust. Of course, the Celtics will be new-look as well. But since the C's main strength is in the coaching and the adjustments that Stevens makes, I think it will impact them more.
Stevens playoff history in Game 1s: 3-4 and one of the wins was against the Bucks in OT. So that # could easily be 2-5

HOU is an excellent team. Capela rarely gets abused on switch is a must for modern bigs.
Game 1 is a good spot for GSW. All the pressure is on HOU to hold serve because the onus is on them to prove they can beat the champs. Warriors just need a split and game 1 is the perfect spot to put doubt into the opponent's heads.
I think Kerr starts the Hamptons Five lineup. Going small is how GSW will take it to HOU. Playing big means Capela can stay and protect the paint which GSW will try to avoid. Draymond Green only has trouble against one type of big man, which is those who have a lower core than his activity can't push off the block, namely Steven Adams. Capela is strong but not built that way, and having played AD last series GSW will be prepared for what they can expect from Capela.
CP3 and Capela will be the key to this series. GSW has some insane points per possession given up in these playoffs when defending isolation plays. Houston is primarily an isolation team that either feeds their 3 and D wings, or lobs to Capela via their two play makers.
If Capela's impact is somewhat neutralized, Houston usually plays either CP3/Harden/Gordon/2 of Ariza Tucker Mbah a Moute... or they go with their 3 main 3 and D guys and the two superstars. That should be a win for GSW as well.
A lot has to go right for Houston to push GSW. Klay is one of the best at defending Harden without fouling, and I would imagine Iggy will start on CP3.

I've got GSW in 6.
I quite doubt they are going to go with the death lineup immediately...they are going to get tired too quick.Maybe from the 3-4 game

Dont see how any of these teams are in a bad spot, with extra days of rest. game 1 is definitely going to be a free-for-all and anyone of these teams can take game 1. If i had to look at these teams from a motivational perspective i think the Warriors/Rockets are equally motivated on both sides for the reasons you mentioned but Boston to me has more motivational edge compared to the Cavs. Sure Cavs still have some motivation of their own (not the same Cavs team of past years. Cavs team that struggled throughout the season and had to replace 3/4th of the roster during trade deadline etc) honestly game 1 is tough to call.

5. You say Cavs will not make the mistakes Philly made but they repeadedly choked away big leads and gave up big leads to the Indiana Pacers all series in the 1st Round.
6. The Rockets bench is much better than the Warriors.

How is Boston in a bad spot for game 1? The same thing was said about Winnipeg in game 1 in that Vegas had rest. Again, it works both ways. Rest CAN resort to rust Beginnerboy as I know you know. Home court today for Boston, over 60% of the public loving the Cavs after their sweep; what I have learned with this Cavs team is that the minute you get comfortable with them, they show you otherwise. Boston knows they have to take game 1 today because if they don’t, game 2 may be too much for them to overcome being down 0-1 with two upcoming road games on deck. I’m leaning the Cavs in this series but I’m expecting a roller coaster ride this series. Lots of drama and lots of games. Today I just think Boston brings it and Cavs backers slow their roll in that they see once again this is a jekyl Hyde team. I could be wrong but we’ll see

I appreciate the effort, but the only valid point you make in the Boston/Cleveland series is #3. The Cavs are indeed playing their best ball. #1. The Celtics are also playing their best ball currently. #2. It's only Wednesday. I'm in my 50's and play basketball twice a week. Three days is an eternity of rest for these guys. #4. So the Cavs will go all out to win? You think? DUH? So has every team in this spot in the history of the game. #5. So the Celts being undefeated at home is a negative for them? #6. Philly won ONE game, not 3. Then and only then would a "couple of plays here and there" matter. I'm not on either side yet, but your analysis is weak.

In looking at game 1 in the West, I feel like there needs to be some steam here in the thought process of the rockets being a true legit formidable opponent for the dubs. If the dubs waltz in game 1 and take care of business immediately, what series do we have? Will we have any questions for the dubs going forward? Curry sitting out faking an injury and everything just comes together so quickly for them? The storyline was created early on this year in the rockets being the real deal. We saw it progress and grow. We see harden getting the mvp, the rockets get home court and Paul looks very good aside harden. Why stop that tomorrow nite with the dubs coming in on the road denouncing home court for the rockets immediately? I could be wrong but I think the rockets and the “public faders” could cash in tomorrow this pushing this storyline that much further. Are the dubs the better team? Of course and of played straight up 100% of the time, nobody beats this team in a 7 game series but the nba is about storylines and drama folks. Home court went to the rockets for a reason and seeing them lose game 1 when it matters the most; not sure that aligns with what we’ve seen unfold all year. I will have a write up tomorrow but I will be looking at who lines up at the window for who and I will be watching the media as well. Right now, rockets are a good buy for game imo though. All the best

Posted: May. 10, 2018 - 2:21 AM ET "Quote" I was initially only going to recommend the Warriors game, but after seeing the emotional Celtics close out game, and all the energy that was spent, I am going to recommend the Cavs as well. First the Warriors at the Rockets. Reasons for backing the Warriors:1) This is a huge statement game for the Warriors after the Rockets not only won the West but beat them twice. About those wins...2) First game the Rockets won was the first game of the year. Neither team is the team they are today. Second game that the Warriors won was also meaningless, as Harden and Durant did not play. The third game, which the Warriors lost at Houston, was their 5th straight road game, and they had dead legs, so I am not reading too much into that one, except that dropping the season series actually gives the Warriors the edge in this game, as they will have something to prove.3) Warriors are peaking, playing some of their best ball, with rested and fresh legs (thanks to all those regular season injuries) and the Rockets, who tried so hard to win the west, are now running on fumes...4)Matchups:Kerr > DantoniKD=Harden but KD's defense is much betterCurry=Paul (because Curry is coming off injury)but then you have...ThompsonGreenIggyI don't think any of the Rockets players, after Harden and Paul, are as impactfull as those three5) Pressure: All the pressure is on the Rockets to win game one and maintain home court. Lose the first game and they lose everything they worked so hard for. Conversely, if Warriors win game one, they take back home court and put the Rockets in a world of hurt. Also, Harden and Paul have a lot of playoff history to rewrite because of all the bone-headed plays (Paul) and no-shows (Harden), so the pressure will be on them individually as well. The Play: Warriors +1101) Celtics are a young team and not the same team that played the Cavs last year. Lots of inexperienced players, so they will have to learn how to play in the ECF as the series progresses. 2) Celtics coming off a big, emotionally draining win. Now they have take on a Cavs team that is rested and peaking.3) Cavs playing some of their best basketball of the year.4) Cavs, like the Warriors, know how important this game one is, and they will go all out to win.5) Celtics have won 7 straight home games! Very hard to maintain that kind of play, especially for a young team.6) But for a couple of plays here and there, Philly would have actually won that series. They made the C's look good with their boneheaded plays and coaching. Cavs will not make the mistakes Philly made.7) LBJ hates the Celtics. Just hates them (recall that the Big 3 ran him out of Cleveland). Do not discount the hate factor.Play: the Cavs at -110The best part about these plays is that if either team loses (which I don't think they will) just double up on the next game. I can't see the Warriors and Cavs going home down 0-2 to such flawed teams as Houston and Boston.
i leaning warriors and agree with you on some points but Capella is easily more impactful than Iggy, Green or Thompson.
I haven't been posting this year. But I've been betting. I win around 53 percent. So I win and lose. I took Boston in game one for two reasons: the home playoff record; and the revenge factor from their previous regular season home blow out to the Cavs in February. And that they've been playing well.
Honestly, I wouldn't have been surprised if Cleveland had won. But I learned Boston is better than Indiana. They have three stars-- Horford, Brown and Tatem. AND MARCUS SMART. Plus, Boston has the genius-- Coach Stevens.
Cleveland has Labron and Kevin, some Korver and an emerging Thompson. I like Boston in game two and Cleveland in game 3

You think The Rockets "are running in fumes" that's hilarious. You must not know much about professional athletes bro. They're thoroughbreds, one day rest is like an eternity, and they've had plenty more than that, please. Rockets win easily tonight.
