I was initially only going to recommend the Warriors game, but after seeing the emotional Celtics close out game, and all the energy that was spent, I am going to recommend the Cavs as well. First the Warriors at the Rockets. Reasons for backing the Warriors:
1) This is a huge statement game for the Warriors after the Rockets not only won the West but beat them twice. About those wins...
2) First game the Rockets won was the first game of the year. Neither team is the team they are today. Second game that the Warriors won was also meaningless, as Harden and Durant did not play. The third game, which the Warriors lost at Houston, was their 5th straight road game, and they had dead legs, so I am not reading too much into that one, except that dropping the season series actually gives the Warriors the edge in this game, as they will have something to prove.
3) Warriors are peaking, playing some of their best ball, with rested and fresh legs (thanks to all those regular season injuries) and the Rockets, who tried so hard to win the west, are now running on fumes...
4)Matchups: Kerr > Dantoni KD=Harden but KD's defense is much better Curry=Paul (because Curry is coming off injury) but then you have... Thompson Green Iggy I don't think any of the Rockets players, after Harden and Paul, are as impactfull as those three
5) Pressure: All the pressure is on the Rockets to win game one and maintain home court. Lose the first game and they lose everything they worked so hard for. Conversely, if Warriors win game one, they take back home court and put the Rockets in a world of hurt. Also, Harden and Paul have a lot of playoff history to rewrite because of all the bone-headed plays (Paul) and no-shows (Harden), so the pressure will be on them individually as well.
The Play: Warriors +110
1) Celtics are a young team and not the same team that played the Cavs last year. Lots of inexperienced players, so they will have to learn how to play in the ECF as the series progresses.
2) Celtics coming off a big, emotionally draining win. Now they have take on a Cavs team that is rested and peaking.
3) Cavs playing some of their best basketball of the year.
4) Cavs, like the Warriors, know how important this game one is, and they will go all out to win.
5) Celtics have won 7 straight home games! Very hard to maintain that kind of play, especially for a young team.
6) But for a couple of plays here and there, Philly would have actually won that series. They made the C's look good with their boneheaded plays and coaching. Cavs will not make the mistakes Philly made.
7) LBJ hates the Celtics. Just hates them (recall that the Big 3 ran him out of Cleveland). Do not discount the hate factor.
Play: the Cavs at -110
The best part about these plays is that if either team loses (which I don't think they will) just double up on the next game. I can't see the Warriors and Cavs going home down 0-2 to such flawed teams as Houston and Boston.

That was my same thought. Philly gave away the series being up 22 and losing and another game they lost it at the end i think ben threw up a shot when they had the lead and could have eaten clock. That's a rookie forya. But James won't blow a 22 point lead or repeat everything else philly did.
I hope Celtics surprise me and actually make it competitive because I still don't think they were a better team than philly.
I think I might laugh my ass off if they make it to finals

I like it. Idk if we'll get MLs like this with these 2 teams again. It's surprising that Philly was -3.5 in their game 1 with the Celts and the Cavs are a pick. Books gave Philly a ton of respect and public still jumped all over them. I just wonder how much money will be on Cavs and warriors game 1. It's gonna be a huge percentage I think. But yeah I'll be playing for a split with both series too

I appreciate the effort, but the only valid point you make in the Boston/Cleveland series is #3. The Cavs are indeed playing their best ball.
#1. The Celtics are also playing their best ball currently.
#2. It's only Wednesday. I'm in my 50's and play basketball twice a week. Three days is an eternity of rest for these guys.
#4. So the Cavs will go all out to win? You think? DUH? So has every team in this spot in the history of the game.
#5. So the Celts being undefeated at home is a negative for them?
#6. Philly won ONE game, not 3. Then and only then would a "couple of plays here and there" matter.
I'm not on either side yet, but your analysis is weak.
#2 my point is they will have a tough time recovering emotionally, more than physically. Philly was a tough out. Now they will have to duplicate that effort against the Cavs.
#5 I do think the streak is a negative in this instance because the Cavs will be less likely to get complacent knowing how good the Celtics have been at home. Meanwhile, the Celtics will have to keep up the effort to maintain the streak and not get complacent themselves because of how good they have been at home.

Usually I would say Sunday at 12:30 gives the Celtics enough time to get ready, but because of how emotional the game was and what it meant to these young guys, I think it will be hard for them to duplicate the effort come Sunday, at least for 4 quarters.

I like a ton the warriors play. What they showed in the playoffs is a completely different thing from the regular season.Especially the D impressed me.Now,i am actually curious who is going to start at center for them...checking capela and harden on rolls is a key role.I think bell is the best fit,but i think mcgee is gonna get the start.
About the cavs, they could steal game 1,but i actually think boston will win the series.
Reasons:
-Lebron made such a difference the first 2 rounds beacuse he didn't have anyone guarding him tightly.Boston has Brown,Smart,Yabousele,Horford who can guard him.
-atheticism on the wings.I dont see korver and smith hang with tatum and brown.Cavs are going to let a lot of points in the paint and a lot of open threes.
-coaching obviously
Unless i am underestimating lebron the cavs are going to lose!

To sum it all... the cavs in game 1 could be a good bet, surely not a great one, they shouldn't be at even money on the road;i would bet more on the warriors to take game 1.

You got anything on how the celtics or rockets reaching the finals? All I'm seeing is the same old facts regarding the 2 most current nba champs. Sounds like you only list a 1 sided view of how great they are and how crappy the celtics and rockets are. I'd like to see your positive views on the 2 possible losers if you see any...

Cavs coming off a 30+ points win..... laying -1 with 60% of the public pounding them.
Public perception is skewed in my opinion.
GLMK
Public perception is making the line going from Cavs +1 into -1.5 right now. Seems too easy. I'm guessing the oddsmakers knew this was coming. I bet this line goes up to Cavs-3 by game day.
Onto Houston, don't think anyone outside of houston would take them -2 vs the warriors...guessing oddsmakers knew this also...perhaps they are giving away free money...

I also think in cavs bos it will go a lot on the refs.the celtics play WWE defense most of the time,if the refs allow it vs the cavs, the series is won for them...all that pushing and holding vs an old team like the cavs would be very effective

Don't panic, Geezer. At least not yet. Remember, Irving left the Cavs for the Celtics. You think LBJ remembers that a little bit!?

Of course he does, but motivation isn't always enough to win games,if we have a showdown where he is limited and a pacers-style show from his teammates, what do you think is going to happen?
Esepcially with an incompetent coach as lue... curious to see the first five of boston too.I bet on rozier-brown-tatum-morris-horford.Baynes out to match thompson in the paint?

If you listen to the pundits, the first series against the Pacers all the new guys were nervous because if the Cavs lost, it was going to be all their fault. They got those jitters out of the way. Also, rotations were not set, Thompson was in the doghouse, etc. Even now, there are a couple guys who still have not shown up and can be difference makers (like Hood). I also expect Jeff Green to have a good series against his old team. He is used to playing in Boston and had some very good playoff performances there.

That's funny cuz you posted a lot of plays but not a single word about Boston until after they won it

1. Capela is better than Iggy and almost as impactful as Draymond for the Rockets.
2. Rockets aren't flawed, they've been the best team in the NBA all year and have pulverized their 1st Round opponents in a similar manner to the Warriors.
3. "running on fumes" LOL-the Rockets are getting as much rest as the Warriors and you haven't seen them play their best ball yet either
4. Inexperience hasn't stopped all the Celtics all year.
5. You say Cavs will not make the mistakes Philly made but they repeadedly choked away big leads and gave up big leads to the Indiana Pacers all series in the 1st Round.
6. The Rockets bench is much better than the Warriors.
7. How is Boston more flawed than a Cavs team giving Jeff Green and Cedi Osman major minutes? The Warriors are trotting out Quinn Cook, Jordan Bell and a decrepit Shaun Livingston off the bench for christ sakes.

Posted: 11 hours ago "Quote" Thompson Green IggyI don't think any of the Rockets players, after Harden and Paul, are as impactfull as those three5) Pressure: All the pressure is on the Rockets to win game one and maintain home court. The Play: Warriors +1101) Celtics are a young team and not the same team that played the Cavs last year. Lots of inexperienced players, so they will have to learn how to play in the ECF as the series progresses. 2) Celtics coming off a big, emotionally draining win. Now they have take on a Cavs team that is rested and peaking.3) Cavs playing some of their best basketball of the year.4) Cavs, like the Warriors, know how important this game one is, and they will go all out to win.5) Celtics have won 7 straight home games! Very hard to maintain that kind of play, especially for a young team.6) But for a couple of plays here and there, Philly would have actually won that series. They made the C's look good with their boneheaded plays and coaching. Cavs will not make the mistakes Philly made.7) LBJ hates the Celtics. Just hates them (recall that the Big 3 ran him out of Cleveland). Do not discount the hate factor.Play: the Cavs at -110The best part about these plays is that if either team loses (which I don't think they will) just double up on the next game. I can't see the Warriors and Cavs going home down 0-2 to such flawed teams as Houston and Boston.

Go back and learn from history. Last I checked, 2 all-stars (in their primes) don't beat 4 all-stars (in their primes) in the NBA playoffs, unless they are Jordan and Pippen. Sorry, but Harden and Paul are not even close. In fact, they choke more often than not. Add to that their coach (who is regular season genius but a playoff loser) and I don't see how the Rockets get there, unless the Warriors suffer a major injury.
I think you have this year's Celtics confused with the Spurs who beat the Heat in the finals. These Celtics have a bunch of up and coming players who are playing over their heads, and now they will be facing one of the greatest players to ever play the game in the pressure packed ECF. Good luck with that one.
