On SportsNation earlier today, ESPN's Marcellus Wiley passed along something he heard in the wake of regarding former Los Angeles RamsHead Coach Jeff Fisher's firing in regards to the prior extension and a clause that would have paid him for a fifth win:
There was a clause in [Fisher's contract extension], reportedly, that said if he wins one more game that even if he were fired [the Rams] would have to pay him. And they said the players found this out and decided to act passively-aggressively and not play for him. And then [the firing] doubled down on the...this doubled down on that same thing. "Let's not let you win that fifth game."

Sounds about right, Scal. They really laid down in that game. Can you imagine having that kind of info on a game? It was practically a fixed game: fixed by the players.

BTW, they will certainly show up against Seattle, whom they always play tough. But will it be enough to cover and on a short week with a new head coach?

Also, Scal, tonight is Thiodeau's revenge game against his former team. Remember what the Bulls record was in double revenge games? It was unreal. How ironic now that he gets to have revenge against the Bulls. But a lot of the faces on the Bulls have changed, so no real scouting advantage for him and his own team does not inspire confidence. But it will be interesting to see how it plays out.

Just shows you what scumbags pro athletes really are, I understand Fisher wasn't popular but to tank a game subconsciously by goofing around in practice or consciously knowing this clause is as low as you can get, Think of all the people who bet the Rams or the Rams fans who bought tickets to see their favorite players.
It just shows you how risky this betting game can be, You can analyse every angle and because of some internal dressing room politics, You can lose a bet, This is why you should never go all in on a bet because no bet is any less risky than the other.

But thats what being a coach is. Your players have to want to play for you. Just like your employees have to want to work for you. Its called motivation.

Right...Like they were going to beat the Falcons regardless. They have a rookie QB who should not be starting in the NFL. They had zero chance to win with Goff at QB. All the people crying for Goff to be starting is realizing why Fisher did not start him form the beginning. Had they stuck with Kennum they would be somewhat competitive.

So were Seattle's last 2 Road games. Of course, for different rea$on$ and you'll never read a confe$$ion on those laydowns.

It is also Double Revenge for the Bulls tonight. Last year MIN beat them twice. At Home the game ended with a 12-0 run by MIN. At CHI MIN won by winning the (OT) 9-0.

@dave - the patriots destroyed the Texans in week 3 with a 3rd string QB. Yes it is the patriots. But the Rams defense is not chipped liver so the rookie QB argument doesn't hold much water. Let's not turn them into the Browns here. The line was 5.5 and many here thought that was a fair line. And look at the way they played. A complete lay down. Given that, the article does spark interest.

Nice BB. Wolves take it down straight up. Bet them in-game when they came back strong +125. Good eye on this one.
Good. Glad it worked out. Old Thibs still has the magic when it comes to revenge. But it would have been really nice if you grabbed them down 21! what was the ML then, +1000

Over the past 11 years teams who have fired their head coach cover 72% of games for the remainder of the season
I'm pretty sure none of those teams just fired there head coach, had a rookie QB who appears clueless, a team having to travel on a short week, etc...if ever a game had blowout written all over it, this is the one.
How many points could the Ram possibly score in Seattle? With Seattle coming off a lose? With Seattle losing the last 3-games to the Rams? This will get ugly early and continue throughout the game. Get ready to cash in on this easy win,

Totally agree on the comment about a fixed game. Seriously, what if you're the second string punter and you casually mention the game is fixed to your "loosely" related friends and family and then casually have your third cousin slip each of them $25k and a round trip ticket to Vegas.....
