Hello All! For Friday March 1, 2013 the lineup for Slew's Fast Horses looks like this:
Aqueduct - 8
Gulfstream - 1,3,5,7,8
Santa Anita - 1,2,3,5,7,8
Tampa - 3
Fairgrounds - 1
Two notes about Fridays list. First, we have a Key Horse running at the Fairgrounds:
Majestic Harbor - FG ( 8) CD 11/22/12 # 4
Majestic Harbor was noted as a Key Horse off of his
November 22nd run at Churchill. Now, if you read the Slew blog you saw
my review of the fall CD meet in which I announced that there was
"...One lousy race with splits worthy of Slew's note." and this was it.
He ran second to the breakaway running of Infrattini
(whose name I cannot ever spell the first time around) who then went on
to win his next start in the 100K Louisiana Handicap before checking in
5th in the G3 Mineshaft Hcp on 2/23. Majestic Harbor's next was
the Tenacious Hcp at the Fairgrounds where he had a desperately wide
journey around the entire oval and was not a factor at the end.
He comes out of an AlwOC where he just missed after he lugged
out on the backstretch and had to be reprimanded with "heavy left-reign
pressure" before he righted himself. He was clearly meant to win that race but he lost that one by a neck, and now finds
himself back at the same level which is where he seems to do his best
work. That said, I would inspect the goods carefully before buying.
Second Note: the winner of race 9 at Gulfstream Park on January 24, 2013 was Rustler Hustler. He was a prominent mention in my review of that race as it made the cut for my latest GP race recap. That was a Starter Handicap and Jane Cibelli clearly is trying to
cash in on the series of starter races while this iron is hot. It isn't
unusual at all for a single horse to qualify...sometimes barely...
and then sweep or run very well in all races in the series.
You can view the entire review at my blog which you can access directly from the SlewsFastHorses.com website.
I'll miss the Friday racing but you won't. So enjoy!

If you follow Slew long enough, you will see me post the following:
"Tohs Cat paid a whopping $29.00 to PLACE!!!"
My favorite use of Slew is to take a Slew single and use it underneath a strong odds-on. This is a perfect example of getting $29 to WIN on a $2.60 horse!
