Looks like a near slam dunk to me....Quality Road.
I could maybe build a case for #8 Mambo Meister coming off the pace, as Kent D. is a maestro at rating and pouncing.
I could maybe build a case for #6 Past the Point stalking and dueling...and liking the distance.
I could maybe build a case for #5 Dry Martini who is 13/4-3-2 at the distance, and good at this track, but would need to stay out of trouble, as he is prone, and get a near perfect trip out of a decent post..
I could maybe build a case for #1 Kiss the Kid, if he can save big ground and not get pinned out of the one hole, then have enough in the tank at the end.
The question I ask myself is how good could QR have been had he not had those head-knocker preps against Dunkirk and Theregoesjojo that resulted in his missing the Derby?
He could still come out of this year as one of the Top 5 or 10 of the 2000's.

I am not searching for a chalkie but he looks awfully tough here and hey maybe he catches the breaks this year to make up for last year. a couple others have popped big figs here and there but i can't find any that have consistently run well in G1 or G2 company.

ATLAS...you probably know if you read my posts when I pick that I am always trying to beat the chalk....even to my own detrement and through my stubborness.

me too bud. people would likely accuse me of playing too much chalk but i always look for someone else. if there is nobody else then it is what it is and even then chalk only hits at 35-40% at top circuits. the key for me is quickly tossing overrated chalkies which i do quite a bit successfully. if you toss the overrated chalkies the legit ones hit at a pretty solid clip again IF you successfully toss the overrated and overbet ones.

Always liked QR. Loved him in the Flordia Derby last year. Never could get on Dunkirks band wagon. Mike I think this horse wins for fun. Looking to play one way exacta to 1 or 2 if the value is there. Will give your 5/8 a big look. Just downloaded the pp`s. If I see something else will post but this is not my track. Have a good weekend bud, know you are busy but glad you posted.

the more predictability and consistency from the horses the better for me. love to step it up on a 2/1, 3/1, 4/1, 5/1 horse in a solid event that shows a reliable pattern and even better if reliable and improving.

Cannot deny that Quality Road looks tough but would consider Duke of Mischief. He is the the only other horse young enough to likely have matured and Foxy Fawkes is cageyer than given credit. The horse seemed to like to close but has steady good works since his last and showed a different dynamic last out. Coa is a great jock despite recent setbacks and may have him in the right spot to take advantage of an aging field. Would consider at least as an exotics player and if the posts are any indication you are likely to get a square price.

Agree that QR is capable of winning for fun especially here at Gulfstream and having a record time but if he is to get beat in the lane either from a duel with Past the Point or from the weight disadvantage I think DELIGHTFUL KISS is sitting on a big one. Second start from a very good campagain early last year and the distance looks juicy. Last year in the HalsHope at GP he won and posted a 1:36 going away in spite of a slow start. He gets my underneath and a shot to pull off the upset.

I like the chances of Delightful Kiss for a piece, and he could be sitting big. Post 10 bothers me a bit at the pace QR will set, but this one could break down and D- Kiss could be there.

Mikey---been looking at Court Vision's race. Intriguing to me....Dutrow will have him pressing the pace (he hates closers). Do you see a suicidal pace here? If not, see him winning fairly easy (we all know about first time Dutrow starters--they always have a little "something" extra)

Agree MP....if he can break clean and just settle in around 6th ( which is very possible with others that will rate ) then his chances really go up the last 1/4. The track took in alot of rain yesterday and the first race at 1 1/8 may tell us something.

DJ...I am not sure what is going to happen. I have been burned by Court Vision countless times going back to his Derby preps. I have concluded that I simply cannot handicap this horse because the same one never seems to show up two times in a row.
I think maybe ATLAS, Kursch, Danno or Kerv might be able to answer this question better than me.

I would be surprised if Court Vision was forwardly placed. It's simply not his running style. The pace may make this race and he may well be compromised. Perhaps a different running style from the import?, hard to say. It's obvious that Court Vision is the class and that alone may be enough...
