Aybar changed direction to purposely run into the fielders. If he took half a step in the other direction he would've avoided both fielders. Instead, he takes 3 steps into foul territory and runs into the guy who was actually fielding the ball.
Now Oakland was forced to use three arms out of their bullpen when it should've been inning over with only one arm used. Very pathetic play by Aybar. That's as close to cheating as you'll see in the game. A's lose now because they had to use arms that they wouldn't have had to. Very nice display of a lack of integrity by Aybar. Worse than an NBA flop in my opinion. He blatantly changed direction and ran 3-4 feet into fair territory just to run into the guy who was fielding the ball.

Couldn't agree more, man. I was doing great earlier towards the beginning and middle of the season. For some reason, I've just been unable to get a good read on the games recently.
You had a great year. Up 22 units is a wonderful accomplishment. Be proud of that. Are you going to bet football? I personally cannot wait to cap some regular season NFL games. |

BestNameEver - I think the point flew 10 miles over your head and not mine. Obviously if I knew how BOTH starting pitchers were going to do, it would be easy for me to pick Tampa. What I was saying is if I *only* knew the result of *one* pitcher, and that pitcher pitched a complete game while only giving up 1 run on 1 hit, I would freaking pound that bet on that pitcher. Does it guarantee a win? As the results show, of course not! Do the odds heavily favor the bet going my way knowing what I know of how Price did? Duh! In this particular case, if I only had knowledge of how Cobb did and not Price, I would have driven to Vegas and put a large amount of money on Tampa Bay. Even then, I was not guaranteed to win, for all I know Price also would pitch a shutout. It's all about the odds though and the risk/reward. Knowing the pitcher of the team I backed would pitch awesome, and also knowing the bet was even money, I think the risk/reward for that play is off the charts. I don't see how one could argue against this? Well, you're just proving my point. My initial retort to Camel's "Price pitched 8 innings, allowed 1, so it was the right play" was that Cobb pitched 7 shutout innings. So I am not seeing where we disagree. We both are trying to say that Price's statline is only one half of the story. A guy could go 13 IP and allow 1 run and lose in the 13th. For all we know, his opponent went 13 IP with 0 runs. (Been a while since a pitcher went more than 9, I think someone did it a few years ago though )

I actually did bet on it
Check my "coldest capper on covers" thread Even me, the coldest capper on covers, knew the Rays would win today I also punched it in for 5 units on the covers MLB contest and it was my streak survivor pick as well. So "guys who knew Tampa would win but didnt bet on it" Normally i'm a nice guy but watching you tell people "i guess youre new here" and "who asked for your opinion" is pretty lame. especially when they were trying to hold you back from a losing proposition. |

To cherry pick the 1 out of 10 times betting heavy on that knowledge ends up *not* paying off without acknowledging the 9 times out of 10 that it would pay off serves little purpose. The point flew 10 miles over your head. Price pitched his arse off but Cobb did better. Especially considering he faced a much better lineup. So I'll ask again. If Camel told you Price would go 8 and give up 1, and if I told you Cobb would go 7 and give up 0, who would you bet on? Tigers were a huge square bet anyway, glad to see the squares finally lose a game (especially one they were all confident on)

If I told you that Tampa Bay would give up zero runs today
You'd bet the ranch (or double wide) on it See how that goes?
