A few years ago, I met a girl from Vegas while on vacation to San Juan. Kept in touch with her, and she invites me out there. I fly out on a Friday night, take a cab to her place. We go out to her friend's party, drink heavily, then hit the casinos, where we continue to drink heavily. My last memory was being at the craps table talking college football with some guy.
I wake up in the morning, and I am in a hotel room in Treasure Island by myself. I had no idea how I ended up there because I was staying with her. I had no money in my pocket, no wallet, no cell phone. The only thing I had in my pocket was a bet slip from Caesars on the Georgia-Auburn game for $2250 on the OVER. Damn Caesars and it's 24-hour sportsbook. I totally freak out, as I don't remember her phone number or address (her address was on my phone). Since I have no money, I have no choice but to go downstairs and pray for the over on the Georgia game. Fortunately, the game goes waaay over. I cash in my ticket at Caesars but am then clueless about what to do, as I haven't the foggiest idea of how to find the girl. Go back to Treasure Island, sit in the sportsbook, get drunk (best cure for the hangover I was dealing with), and bet a bit more to keep occupied. Start to wonder how I am going to get on the plane the next day without any ID. Amazingly, that evening, she shows up at Treasure Island looking for me. She had blacked out too, woke up with my belongings, but not me. She checked her credit card statement to try to piece together the night, and there was a charge for the hotel room at TI. Thus, she went there to see if she could find me.....Fucking vegas. |
