Anyone here a Pharmaceutical Sales Rep or familiar with this career?
in General Discussion
hey DT. I know a little but I am on the other side. I am a doc and deal with pharm reps daily. Most docs hate dealing with you, you sit around and wait a lot at their offices just for a signature and for you to give a two minute pump of your product. I would say 80% of my reps are hot 20 something females. The money isnt as good as it used to be and your expense account isnt what it used to be. If you find the right company/drug you could rake it in but as a generic statement I would say the glory days of pharm reps passed after 2005 or 2006. All depends on what company you land w though. good luck. I had a buddy who played football at usc in late 90's, got a pharm gig for 3 years and made more money than I did. Then one of the companys drugs gets recalled and he gets pink slipped. good luck

ps- dont become a dentist. most people hate the dentist; do you want to see patients that dread coming to you every day? I also think they have the highest suicide rate of any white collar profession. my 2 pennies, good luck holmes

I am a doctor; with a certain specialty. I took the mcat, dat, oat, and lsat. I hung out with (shadowed) lawyers, gp's, surgeons, pediatricians, judges, eye doctors and dentists during my junior and senior years of college. Took all those exams above just in case I had a last minute change of heart in terms of what profession I wanted to go through with. I watched these professionals work and more importantly I paid attention to how stressful their lifestyles were and how much "freedom" they had. Could they dictate their own schedules and have financial freedom was my main concern. Don't paint yourself in a corner to start. Take a broad selection of GE classes your first two years and after your sophmore year make a flow chart of different careers you may want to research. make a list of pro's and cons you think would apply to said careers and then go find some fuckers that are in these jobs. Hang out with a few of them and pick their brains. Sample size is important here obviously.

I write scripts for Ultram 90% of the time for pain now; the look on an addicts face is priceless when they see its not for the good shit Quote Originally Posted by drJ:

go to a bar called drea's or something like that. its in a smaller casino on the strip but cant remember which. I lived there for 6 months during residency; strippers go there after work to get their drank on amigo. hilton for sportsbetting. cheap poker tourneys at luxor. there is a vietnamese pit boss at the stratosphere that i stuck in the ass a few times, she watches the 25-100 BJ pit; might be worth a trip down the strip

pokerstars i play 20-40 dollar buy in multi-table sit and go tourneys. I play 20 tourneys a week so I can qualify for the leaderboard bonus each week. Landed in the top ten each of the last four weeks. Easy money meat |

Hey guys- Wife and I stayed at the Clift and ate at Oola on 800 block of Folsom. Very tasty, cool, small joint. We usually eat at the slanted door and stay at four seasons and eat at the hotel. Will check back NC to see if you need any help. KQC no rain! |
