Covers user mctrap is making a serious charge up the Streak Survivor leaderboard and is hoping to cash in on a big payday over the next couple of weeks.
Mctrap picked up his 20th consecutive win on Tuesday, correctly picking the Houston Astros on the moneyline against the Milwaukee Brewers and is now just one win away from $25,000! It wasn't much of a sweat for mctrap either as the Astros took over after falling behind 1-0 in the first and had built a six-run lead heading into the eighth before holding on for a 10-8 win. He now has until June 18 at 11:13 pm ET to make his next selection. **video
Mctrap has been a Covers user since 2008 and has put together a very impressive career mark of 1645-1506-76 in the Streak Survivor contest. His current streak began on May 7, 2019, and has featured a mix of MLB and NBA games with one WNBA side mixed in. Here’s a look at his most recent picks:
Another Covers user, smeredith15, made an incredible run in the contest that unfortunately came to an end on Friday evening. His selection of the Over nine runs in the Seattle-LA Angels game came up just short with the total finishing at eight after the 6-2 Mariners win. It was a tough-luck loss for smeredith15 as no runs were scored over the final 2.5 innings, leaving him one run short of a push.
As mctrap inches closer to Covers lore — and the big money prizes, of course — we asked a couple of Streak Survivor legends what advice they’d give.
“I wouldn't give them any advice,” said brackson13, who hit an all-time best 24 wins in 2015. “But I guess if I had to, my only advice would be to ignore any advice. From me, from other Covers users, or from anyone else. Only one person on the site has had the right combination of research, instincts and luck to win their last 20+ games, and that's you. Trust yourself and whatever you've been doing to this point, and try like hell to enjoy it for as long as it lasts.”
And from Tuppy, who took home $100,000 in 2007: “My advice would be: Don't be in a rush to make a pick and avoid the streak discussion boards."
