Lucas Raymond scored 1:25 into overtime for the visiting Detroit Red Wings, who overcame a two-goal, third-period deficit to edge the New York Islanders 4-3 on Monday in Elmont, N.Y.

Raymond and J.T. Compher exchanged the puck deep in the Islanders' zone before Raymond buried a shot into the far-left corner.

Daniel Sprong, Jake Walman and Compher scored within a span of fewer than four minutes around the midway point of the third period for the Red Wings, who snapped a three-game losing streak (0-2-1).

Detroit's Moritz Seider had two assists, and Walman, Compher and Raymond also finished with two points apiece. Red Wings goalie Ville Husso made 37 saves.

Bo Horvat had a goal and an assist, Casey Cizikas and Brock Nelson also scored goals and Noah Dobson had two assists for the Islanders, who had their two-game winning streak halted. Goalie Ilya Sorokin recorded 32 saves.

Cizikas was robbed at the horn in the first when Husso gloved his point-blank shot, before he snapped the scoreless tie by scoring a short-handed goal with 1:21 left in the second.

Seider's pass glanced off the broken stick of Islanders center Jean-Gabriel Pageau, who had been slashed by David Perron, and went to Alex DeBrincat. Horvat poked the puck loose, and Cizikas picked it up at the edge of the Detroit zone, outraced Seider up the ice and sent a backhander that Husso was able to slow but not stop as it trickled behind him into the net.

Nelson doubled the lead 1:05 into the third, when deflected Dobson's shot from the blue line.

The Red Wings began their comeback when Sprong capped an end-to-end rush by dragging the puck around Islanders defenseman Sebastian Aho in the right faceoff circle before firing a shot over Sorokin's glove shoulder at the 7:55 mark.

Walman tied the score 1:40 later. The defenseman fired a shot on net that bounced off a gaggle of bodies to the side boards, where Seider outraced Horvat to the puck and passed it back to Walman, who scored from the top of the left faceoff circle.

Compher gave the Red Wings a short-lived lead with 8:17 left, when he raced to the left of Sorokin, took a pass from Seider and buried the puck into the wide-open corner of the net.

Horvat tied the score thanks to a power-play goal with 4:11 left, with Perron off for tripping.
