No. 1 Mississippi State 45, Kentucky 31: Josh Robinson ran for a career-high 198 yards and two touchdowns as the visiting Bulldogs knocked off the Wildcats in their first game ever as a No. 1 team.

Dak Prescott went 18-of-33 for 216 yards and a TD passing while adding 88 yards and a pair of scores on the ground for Mississippi State (7-0, 4-0 SEC), which extended the program’s longest winning streak since 1941 to 10 games. Tight end Brandon Hill hauled in a touchdown pass and Christian Holmes returned an onside kick attempt for a score as the Bulldogs survived a breakout game from Patrick Towles.

Towles threw for a career-high 390 yards and two touchdowns and rushed for 76 yards and a pair of scores as Kentucky (5-3, 2-3) dropped to 3-12 all-time against top-ranked opponents. Ryan Timmons racked up 114 receiving yards while Demarco Robinson and Javess Blue each picked up over 80 yards receiving and a score for the Wildcats.

Prescott and Towles matched each other in the third quarter, with each passing for a TD and rushing for another to keep Mississippi State up 31-24 heading to the fourth. Robinson broke down the middle and cut to the left on a 73-yard TD run with 11:47 left, but Towles again made it a one-score game with a 4-yard TD run up the middle before Holmes thwarted the onside kick attempt by picking up the bouncing ball and rumbling 61 yards down the right side.

Robinson broke through the line untouched for a 2-yard TD on the opening possession but Towles responded with a short pass on the right side to Robinson, who slipped a tackle and raced down the sideline for a 67-yard score. Prescott’s 2-yard TD burst made it 17-7 before a field goal sliced it to a seven-point lead at the half.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Prescott recorded his ninth career game with both a passing and rushing TD and narrowly missed out on his fifth 200-yard passing/100-yard rushing game of the season. … Hill suffered a pulled muscle in his left thigh on his TD catch in the third quarter and did not return. … Towles has six TD passes and no interceptions in the last four games, and his two rushing TDs doubled his season total.
