Recap: Boston College 23, Wake Forest 17

Boston College 23, Wake Forest 17: Jon Hilliman ran for 101 yards and two touchdowns as the visiting Eagles held off a late rally by the Demon Deacons.

Tyler Murphy finished 11-of-15 for 165 yards and added another 77 on the ground for Boston College (5-3, 2-2 ACC), which won its third straight road game. Shakim Phillips caught a touchdown pass and Justin Simmons grabbed a timely interception for the Eagles.

John Wolford went 22 of-30 for 242 yards for Wake Forest (2-6, 0-4), which was held to just 19 yards rushing. E.J Scott and Isaiah Robinson each ran for a touchdown while Jared Crump caught six passes for 60 yards for the Demon Deacons.

Boston College jumped out to a 10-0 lead when Alex Howell kicked a 30-yard field goal and Hilliman sprinted 33 yards for a touchdown. Hilliman's 1-yard TD plunge extended the Eagles' advantage to 17 as they held Wake Forest to just six yards of total offense in the first half.

The Demon Deacons got on the board when Mike Weaver kicked a 28-yard field goal before Boston College pulled ahead 23-3 after Phillips hauled in a 37-yard TD pass. Wake Forest cut the deficit to six following touchdowns by Scott and Robinson but Wolford threw an interception with less than three minutes left in the game as the Demon Deacons fell to their fourth straight defeat.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Boston College has won seven of the last 10 meetings with Wake Forest. … The Eagles missed an extra point for the second straight week. … The Demon Deacons have dropped eight consecutive conference games.
