Quarterback Thomas Sirk threw for two touchdowns and ran for another as Duke snapped a four-game losing streak by defeating host Wake Forest 27-21 on Saturday afternoon at BB&T Field in Winston-Salem, N.C.

Receiver Max McCaffrey caught two of the touchdown tosses, scoring on 18- and 28-yard plays.

Bowl-bound Duke (7-5, 4-4 ACC) led 17-7 at halftime, aided by Ross Martin's 51-yard field goal on the last play of the first half.

Sirk threw for 275 yards, completing 26 of 39 passes. His second-quarter touchdown run was from 3 yards out.

Freshman running back Tyler Bell scored his first career touchdown on a 1-yard run late in the first quarter for Wake Forest (3-9, 1-7), which lost its sixth game in a row and finished sixth in the seven-team Atlantic Division.

The Demon Deacons closed within 24-14 with 11:20 remaining with tight end Cam Serigne's 10-yard reception from quarterback John Wolford.

Martin added a 35-yard field goal before Wolford's 22-yard pass to wide receiver Cortez Lewis with 1:46 left pulled the Demon Deacons within 27-21.

Wolford completed 23 of 35 passes for 338 yards. Serigne collected 135 receiving yards on five catches.

The Blue Devils have won four games in a row in the series.
