How did he turn Smoltz around? 1-3 with a 4.26 ERA is nothing to write home about, especially in the national League. I'm willing to bet large that Duncan will not turn Suppan around! Guy has worst stuff that Penny and Smoltz ever did and the guy is 35 and declining hard. come back 3 months from now and let's see how Suppan has done.

Suppan is done! Guys numbers have steadily decined since 2008. Not a good sign and he's 35, the age where most pitchers are on the steady decline. I guess he's worth a shot at the league minimum but he's not starter material anymore. might be able to do some mop up duty as a reliever but that's about it.
2008 4.96 ERA 2009 5.29 ERA 2010 7.84 ERA

Just because you haven’t heard Mark Prior’s name in a while — like possibly since 2006 — doesn’t mean the one-time Cubs prodigy is retired. Heck, no. Prior won’t even turn 30 until this September. And he’s carefully working his way back from his second shoulder surgery, trying to make one more comeback. It’s slightly more than 20 months since Dr. James Andrews performed that most recent operation, to repair a torn shoulder capsule. Now Prior’s agent, John Boggs, tells Rumblings that Prior is throwing off a mound in California, trying to ease his way back to health. “Mark has been through so many timelines, at this point I’m almost allergic to the word,” Boggs said. “But he’s out there. He’s getting himself ready. And when he’s ready, I’m sure you’ll hear a lot about him. Then we’ll invite teams to come watch him throw. And hopefully, he’ll be the next Ben Sheets.” Jayson Stark. |

Roberto Alomar may have full blown AIDS according to ex-girlfriend, Ilya Dall. Now she’s suing the former second baseman for $15 million for having sex with her while knowing that he might have AIDS. From the New York Post:
I’m not the only one shocked by the suit, in which Dall, 31, claims that she lived with Alomar, 41, for 3 years and watched in horror as his health deteriorated until in February 2006, four years into their relationship, his “skin had turned purple, he was foaming at the mouth and a spinal tap showed he had full-blown AIDS.” Apparently this is also news to Alomar’s lawyers and his own family. From the Daily News, the first source to obtain the lawsuit:
But wait, it gets even crazier (no, seriously). In the lawsuit, Dall details that Alomar, a 12-time all-star who retired from baseball in 2005 over health issues, disclosed to her in April of that year that he had been raped by two Mexican men when he was 17.

In April 2005, Alomar told Dall he was suffering from erectile dysfunction and confided "he was raped by two Mexican men after playing a ballgame in New Mexico or a Southwestern state when he was 17," the suit says.. |

"Due to the ongoing police investigation, we do not feel it would be appropriate to comment further. Unless some other information surfaces, Zach remains a valued member of the Grizzlies family and Memphis community." Well, plenty of other information is about to surface. Indianapolis' 6News has reported a trusted police informant identified Randolph as a "major" marijuana supplier in the city after narcotics officers were staking out a suspected drug house on Indianapolis' north side two weeks ago when they pulled over Arthur Boyd, 32, after he left the residence. According to the report, the Cadillac Escalade Boyd was driving was registered to Randolph, and police found marijuana and ammunition stowed inside. Randolph has already played dumb, claiming he loaned the SUV to his friend but had no knowledge of his activities. Problem is, the police found information in the Escalade that led them to a storage facility where there were four units rented in the name of Randolph. Controlled substances were in two of the units as well as four cars fitted with hidden compartments. Randolph's attorney, John Tompkins, described Boyd as Randolph's longtime friend who runs errands for the All-Star and takes care of his home in Indianapolis during the season. Tompkins also claimed the secret compartments were used for hiding valuables since Randolph, like a lot of NBA players, could be a target for burglary. The police aren't buying it and described Randolph as a "financier" to drug dealers, supplying them with marijuana, vehicles and a house in a probable cause affidavit filed in Marion County Superior Court. Wallace was right to play the "everyone is innocent until proven guilty" card but if you look at Randolph's legal resume, it might be a good idea for the Grizzlies' general manager to start building a contingency plan. |
