Who could possibly be concerned about there not being a NFL pre-season contest?? Now that's some serious junky sheet! |

I think you're right about Arizona. Tougher sell on Denver. And by the way, you still could be crazy.

My concern is everybody is taking GB and nobody is giving Chicago a chance. GB looks and smells great on paper and on the field. That said, how many times have we seen games like this that should be 'locks' and they're not? As hard as it is for me to do so, I'd have to take Chicago +7. Without question, I could get embarrassed by making this pick....but I've seen this before and I think 55-60% of the time it goes to the underdog. Just playing the percentages fellas.

When they said 'huge swing for the books', I thought they were implying the public - literally - lost their bets. Didn't think for a second it was a 'no action' game. Thanks for clarifying...

Seems like this article on Covers contradicts itself. Not sure if I see how it was a "tough result for the bettors" given the final score when the game was called. They said 88% of the betting was on Georgia -35 and 86% of the money on the OVER at 57 points.
Final score: Georgia 51 LA-Monroe 14. Unless I'm missing something, the sportsbooks lost big and the public kicked ass.

A lot of line movement here for a seemingly innocuous game. Tulsa vs FL Atlantic? I mean - who cares other than Tulsa or FA fans???

My feeling is Utah -5 could be artificially low - and big value to Utes backers - for two reasons: 1) Michigan is a bigger name than Utah in football and there will be a lot of $ on Michigan as a result. 2) Harbaugh's name. If not for those 2 things, this line would be probably be Utah -7 or -7.5. That said, I don't have any money on this game and hope it's exciting - either way. Good luck with your picks!

Obviously, I touched a nerve and apologize for eliciting such an emotional response. You're right, I wasn't nearly as serious as you (and most of the betting public) about this particular matchup. But I'm a mathematician and scientist...and studied the game of football long enough to know BYU had a greater than 50% chance to cover. Hope you have a strong, profitable weekend. Good luck to you and everyone else.

Seems very odd to me that this particular game has seen such a huge change in line movement over the last few days. This game is an afterthought compared to about 90% of the rest of the games today. So, on that note, if everyone and their hillbilly brother is taking Middle TN, then I'm taking BYU at -3.

I like a 3-score game with Aggies +14. Can't help but question Alabama's offense under Lane Kiffin.....something seems off.

Funny how someone can say "Clippers all the way" and in the same sentence say "possible upset alert". I find that amusing….

I agree this should be a great game and I like the over as well. AZ could come out flat after their 'performance of the season' against Oregon.....but so could ASU after a helluva game against UCLA and the big run they've been on. Might as well take the points and Arizona. Historically, this rivalry has belonged to the dog some 70% of the time. Also, is ASU a lock on playing in the PAC-12 championship? If so, another checkmark in UA's column. No more incentive needed.

Either USC squeaks it out or UCLA blows them out. Might as well take the Bruins and the points at + 3 1/2. Hard to go against Jim Mora in a big game.
