you know that silly constitution that rightwingers ignore, particularly that establishment clause and that crazy rule about the separation of church and state that the USSC repeats over and over again, well the secular coalition grades these people over how much they respect, or disrespect it.
look at elizabeth warren getting a perfect score. she is now taken over 2nd place on the Church of ClubDirt endorsement list for 2016 if she runs.
on another positive note, it looks like a couple republicans didn't fail miserably. could it be that some republicans actually acknowledge the constitution? the times may be changing.

These Bible Thumpers are your typical hypocrites. They absolutely want their values intertwined with our Politics. But when the Church of Satan wants the same rights, their faces turn pale.
You would think that after fighting centuries of War with each other over Religious issues that the Human Race would learn to separate Faith from Politics. You would think wrong.

I didn't really feel that way until the last decade or so. A lot of them somehow think/act they are just morally superior to others and I am not even an atheist. Religion is fine but organized Religion.....

separation of church and state appears in many, many times in USSC decisions that interpret the constitution, which happens to be their job.
just like with any constitutional provision, we can all interpret the establishment clause the way we want. ultimately, what the courts say will prevail. for me, the less religion and money in government, the better. that's why i like warren more today than i did yesterday.

I personally could care less what someone's religious views are as long as those views do not result in them trying to kill me, legislate their "morals" to me or take away my freedoms.
Maybe it is time for a non-militant atheist in the WH. By non-militant, I am talking about those clear minded atheists that do not get all riled up at the word god on money and in the pledge of allegiance. Those people give the rest of us atheists a bad name.

I'm convinced the current guy in the oval fits your description.

Am I the only one who thinks Obama is an atheist? Barry is tight with Neil De Grasse Tyson come on!
i've heard that as well. i bet if you read his books and read in between the lines, you could get a pretty good idea about this, but who the hell wants to do that? don maybe.

Think Progress is comparing Sasse, and millions of other Americans, believing an employer not paying for services such as abortion or birth control is the same as Muslims killing thousands of women each year (honor killings).
Dirt, is this your example of the Christian Taliban? If it is count me as a member also.

no, the quote from his website where he says the government can't force people to violate their (alleged) religious beliefs under any circumstances, which presumably would include criminal laws like child molestation and whatever else. that's as Christian Taliban as it gets.

I'm thinking if that is the part of his website Media Matters used then the parts before and after weren't that damaging to Basse.
Sane people would know he isn't talking about child molestation or murder. Notice they didn't use his words but a quote from National Geographic when it came to the honor killings.
I think we can agree on two things
1. Govt forcing an employer to provide healthcare to their employees if it violates their religious beliefs is wrong.

(Double Handshake)
sane people would never attribute any sort of sanity to a religious rightwinger's comments about his religion versus government in an effort to fire up the nuts to get elected in a state like nebraska.

Disappointing result in that primary, but I knew it was coming.....The crazy strain of the right wing is strong in the upper Midwest and great plains...They exploit the anger of common sense conservative leaning middle class voters.
I remember the days when the republicans around here used to have mainstream appeal... You should see the freaks trying to knock out Mike Rounds in Sodak.

and i already do count you as a member.
Those same nutcases also have no problem whatsoever in putting other religions down so it's really has nothing to do with advocating freedom in religion.
