I understand your poll. I'm just saying something made McCain close the gap to a two point deficit after the big bounce from the dem. convention. The only significant event was McCain naming Palin as VP candidate. If that poll was accurate, wouldn't the gap at least remained the same if not increased?

KOAJ had a good website that tracks the polling data. Link

The state-by-state electoral breakout on the realclearpolitics.com web site is one to watch
heywud, mccain really rolled the dice with Palin. The choice is being billed as a play for women, but I think that's just a smokescreen. Choosing Palin was a play to solidify the shakey base and evangelical right. Her positions on choice and creationism have no appeal to Hillary supporters. The bump for McCain in that one poll may be all he'll see. Plus, it's unclear how thoroughly she was vetted. She may come undone over the next two months.

I actually thought she might help him at least thru the convention, but what a gift for Obama/Biden. Never dreamed McCain would show this kind of bad judgement so early in the race, especially when it wasn't neccessary to pick Palin. At worst, it would probably have been close to even (give or take) after the RNC anyway & with Romney or Pawlenty, etc, he might have opened up a little lead. Appreciate it Mr McCain -
