IVAN NOVA vs. DETROIT since 1997

NOVA is 0-2 when starting against DETROIT with an ERA of 10.66 and a WHIP of 2.212.

His team's record is 1-2 (-1.6 units) in these starts. The UNDER is 1-2. (-1.4 units)

DOUG FISTER vs. NY YANKEES since 1997

FISTER is 2-2 when starting against NY YANKEES with an ERA of 3.79 and a WHIP of 1.486.

His team's record is 3-3 (+1.3 units) in these starts. The OVER is 3-3. (-0.3 units)

The over is my best choice. Doug Fister has a 1.74 WHIP in Spring Training. Ivan Nova has a 2.21 WHIP when facing Detroit.
Detroit has a problem ... lost the series against Minnesota (1-2) with a very low batting (.235) and with runners in scoring position (.278)
Ny Yankees (.221) and with runners in scoring position (.284), the offense of both teams this off.
The bullpen All Games 6.14 (was) 1.910 (whip) Detroit
The bullpen All Games 6.94 (was) 1.714 (whip) NYYankees

Pick: Over 8.5

I agree with Mr B.  I like the over here.  But I also love the Tigers at home on one of the nicest days of the year in the Midwest so far!!!! Yanks are feeling the pressure.  They are not the Yanks of years past.  I expect them to miss the playoffs this year and be early season money as I bang against them consistently.  Det has won 7 of the last 10 dating to last year and Verlander will smoke CC on Sunday.....Detroit wins big today.  If there is a spot to take the Yanks, it would be tomorrow.  I'll take the over today and RL the tigers in a two teamer.

I'll be taking DETROIT ML. Comparing recent performances, Fister has fared much better against the Yankees than Nova has against the Tigers. With all of the injuries on the Yankees, Fister should have a good game at home. I am leaning towards the OVER, mostly because of Nova's propensity for giving up home runs and a non-existent Detroit bullpen (to be kind), but I am a bit wary because of the line dropping from 8.5 to 8.0, plus both offenses seem to be having difficulties getting it done so far...
