WV is 1 dimensional stop the run and game is done. Crimson And Cream -6.5
Try telling that to all the teams the past 2-3 years who knew the same thing going up against WVU. I think Jaybirdy is correct in that WVU could still be emotionally drained after the upset loss to Pitt. If not, then I can see this game going either way. OU beat Mizzou in heralded B12 championship, but the B12 isn't all that grand this year to begin with, so that probably doesn't mean a whole lot. Besides, OU *LOST* **TWICE** to ***UNRANKED*** teams on the road. The Big East went 5-0 in bowl games last year, including a WVU win over GaTech. The year prior, everyone thought WVU had no business going up against Georgia in the Sugar Bowl played in the Bulldogs' own backyard, and WVU went in and ran all over the SEC's champion.

OU has been a Jekyl and Hyde team this season. You know at home they will play tough, but on the road against inferior opponents, they didn't have the intensity to really win big if at all. This game they should be pumped for, but they really haven't been good in bowl games therse last 4 seasons.

Surprisingly, the 'Eers have played the 'toughest schedule' of the two (according to Sargarin's rankings).
WAIT!! Let me clear my throat on that one please.
Then too, he has Oklahoma ranked the # 1 overall team in the country. on that one also!
If indeed, West Va has played a tougher schedule than Oklahoma, then just who in hell must Oklahoma have played, I ask ya? "The Last Remaining Great-Grannies of the Civil War?"
I first thought I liked Okie here......Shit!! I still do.
Game is in Arizona, be lottsa Okies out there raising hell.
SoonerFan54.....I think you're right, it depends on who shows up "firstest wid the mostest."

OK This is as easy as it looks... I have been waiting to cash in on overated Pat White and Slater all year. Rich Rodriguez will have that West Virginia look on his mug by mid 2nd quarter.... This is a get out item right here!!!!

Okay there blackjack. If you know anything at all about WVU, you know that their fans travel well for the bowl games, regardless of the location. I'll be going to the game along with 5 other fellow Mountaineers who are making the trip across country. So I expect just as many WVU fans there as Oklahoma. The crowd will not be a factor. That being said, I think that if the spread remains around 7, Oklahoma is a safe bet. I make it a rule to never bet against my team but to anyone else, Oklahoma SHOULD cover in a close game. WVU's defense has played well this year and, quite frankly, Oklahoma has racked up most of it's big points against inferior defenses and at home. The problem for WVU is going to be the supposedly high powered offense. For most of the year the offense has been only Pat White and he has decided to suddenly become fumble and injury prone. Slaton has disappeared, they don't use Reynaud or Schmitt nearly enough and every one else is a star struck freshman playing in their first BCS game with not enough game experience this year. The guys will get over losing to Pitt. It's a rivalry game they play every year and this year, yes WVU choked. They still have an inferiority complex and the one thing I can tell you with WVU is that if they are underdogs, they typically play better. Oklahoma won't score more than three touchdowns, WVU won't score more than two. However, I can't bet against my Mounties. Good Luck to everyone else.

It appears most people are all over Oklahoma. I even saw an ESPN show over the weekend that had the public taking OU by a whopping 82%-to-18%. On the surface, I can understand: it's Oklahoma, they are ranked #3, they just won the Big-12, they beat Missouri - twice, WVU just had their hearts ripped out of them by Pitt, and on and on.
But several things have me wondering about OU ...
1. They are 2-2 when playing on the opposing team's field during the RS, including losses to TWO unranked teams. WVU also lost twice (once at home), but one was to a ranked team and both times WVU was without Pat White in the 2H.
2. They beat a very good Mizzou team, twice. The first time was a come-from-behind 10pt win at home and the last time a 21pt win in the Big12 championship. While I think OU rightly deserves to be crowned the Big-12 champion, I think the Big-12 this year is highly overrated for the most part. Most teams in the B12 this year were having an "ok" season (like Texas), but most were down (like Nebraska). Mizzou and Kansas both looked VERY good because of this fact (especially Kansas).
3. OU hasn't had a good bowl record in recent years. Since 2003, they have a 1-3 record, including the loss to Boise St. last year. Conversely, WVU has a 2-2 record since 2003, including an upset win over Georgia in the 2005 Sugar Bowl.
The big question, though, is will WVU turn the ball over multiple times again? Against USF they had SIX turnovers, which, along with Pat White's injury, cost them the game (even though they were still within a score). Against Louisville and Pitt they had three each as well. If WVU can hang onto the ball (easier said than done) and Pat White is injury-free through the whole game, I see WVU not only winning, but winning huge. Also, the emotional thing may not be as big a factor as people think. Last year, WVU was 8-1 and looking good going into their home game vs. USF and not only lost the game, but also the Big East championship and any hopes for a NC or even a big BCS game. Yet they turned right around and beat Rutgers in the last RS game and then beat Ga. Tech in the Gator Bowl even with Pat White nursing a sore ankle and neck.

Boomer Sooner rolls here. People say that the WVU offense is so good and that OK is up and down this year. Tough game to figure out, but one thing stands out for me. OK dominates spread offenses like WVU. Those Mizzou games showed what that Oklahoma defense can do against that QB attack formation. I think Mizzou's offense is better than WVU's and that's why OK wins big.

I think if Rodriguez was going to bail, he would have done it last year. Not saying he won't, but I just can't see why Michigan would be any better than Alabama.

Looks like the line has moved closer to -8, all the more reason to stick w/ my gut and still take Oklahoma here....Like the above comments on Oklahoma's "handle" on the spread offenses...

If Rodrigues doesn't coach WVU will get killed. Rodrigues made that entire offense what it is. It will be strange to see what that team will turn into. Still taking OKLA big.

Forget everything I said in my posts above - especially if Rich doesn't coach the game. Slaton and White will be thinking of fofieting their Senior season and not about the game. Oklahoma will romp for sure.
Traitor Rodriguez. So much for sticking by his alma mater. More like sticking IT TO his alma mater.

I remember the last time WVU played the Sooners, my next door neighbour was a Sooner fan and the Sooners scored first he walked over and rang my door bell and left, a short time later the Sooners scored another TD and sure enough my door bell rings, funny thing that was the last time my door bell rang that night as WVU came back and beat the holy shit out of the Sooners. Final score WVU 41 OK 27. The year was 1982 and I don't think my neighbour will be ringing my doorbell this year cause he is dead!!!
I am going to take the points at 7.5 or better, WV will surprise a lot of people. I just hope they don't surprise me like they did against PITT

I would have picked Okie in this one anyway, but now it is a much easier pick. WVU is in total chaos with the fallout to the RR fiasco. I cannot see the players not being distracted. OU is out to make there case for next year, and should be a Top 5 pick in the preseason polls with all the talent they have back. WVU would have made this one interesting with Rodriquez there, but now they fall back in the national picture, both this year and next.
