OSU has too much for Cincy.......unless Cincy plays like they did against Rutgers last year??? But I don't think they can match up with the 3rd or 4th best team in the Pac 10.

With Stroughter out for OSU and sophmore QB maybe possible for Cinncy to stackup the line and stop the power running game of OSU. Brian Kelly might not have the personnel to run his spread offense as well as it worked at Central Michigan last year. Still leaning toward Cinncy to cover here. Could use some more thoughts on this game.

This games is very tricky! The spread is probably right on the button. I had it at 4. With everyone leaning towards OSU, thinking I might go Cinn. The only thing that worries me is that Cinn plays Miami, OH next week on the road and might play like it. On the other hand they really can't and shouldn't be overlooking a OSU team that is very talented on D and is better than Cinn on paper. Oregon St. is 1-5 in their first road game of the year, and this is a long trip from OSU. Wait for the lames to keep jumping on OSU and then go Cinn with the value. Pups and Chalk #1 in the business baby!

I just read that sammie stroughter was practicing with the first team and may play some snaps in this game (cbssports.com). I think if he does play some, that could provide a big boost to the beavs and give them some extra confidence. I like the way their D looked against utah. I mean they sent the Utes QB home with a seperated shoulder and the RB home with a broken leg. The young secondary played pretty well, but that was against the 2nd stringer. I think the beavs know they have to win games on the road to have a shot at a winning season. If the young beaver QB doesn't make too many mistakes and Yvenson can run for 150 they'll cover.

i like cincinnati, looking at last years games. Now Im just going by last year and the game there first game they just played. this is true now. Cincinnati has not lost a game at home last year.

Oregon State is the safer play. The main reason: strength of 1st opponent. OSU played a strong Utah team and Cinn. played a D2 school. Tough to judge Cinn on last season with coaching change.

cincinnati bearcats is the play. Don't be fooled by what you hear. Oregon State is not that great of a road team. I am going to buy Cincy up a bit and get a few extra points

cincy is good at home, as their record shows.. but i like OSU in this one.. if stroughter does play, it will provide a huge boost to OSU, not just on offense and special teams, but emotionally as well, as he's probably one of their best players.. that d looked pretty good against utah too..

The first four or five games, I like to look at match ups. After this, its all about trends. Lets take a look at the match up.
Cincinnati has a new head coach who has implemented the spread offense, and if last week was any indication, the offense is running very smoothly. They have experience returning at the offensive line and receivers, and since the shift to a pass heavy spread offense is in line, this will be helpful. The Bearcats defense is absolutely nasty and anyone who watched them last year in the Big East knew how good that defense was. That defense is returned virtually the same at every position. While not really big, they are a very fast unit
Oregon State is equally a very very good team, probably better. Oregon State has 18 starters returning. Their biggest question is at the quarterback position, but otherwise, their offense is set. The Beavers defense is very very good at the front seven and can shut down this Cincinnati run game.
The thing that is going to break the stalemate is matching up Cincinnati's spread attack against Oregon State's pass defense. Oregon State's secondary is very very flimsy and weak and while Cincinnati did only play a division I-AA team last week, I mean Championship series team, they put up points like a USC or Florida would. Cincinnati is stacked on defense and I look for them to contain the Oregon State attack. Cincinnati's offense will obliterate that secondary of Oregon State and cover the spread, possibly even winning the game.

My big problem with taking Cinci is that they can't stop the run. If O.St. decides to run at the Cats, they take away much of the effectivess of the spread merely by virtue of keeping the offense on the bench and eating up the clock.
But the low spread tells me the books are respecting the Cats' home strength, else this spread would be higher toward Beavers. I'm seriously leaning toward Cats on the spread and $line. Homefield advantage on a high-profile game must be respected. Furthermore, the Big East has been underrated. They're looking for respect, especially as the step-child Syracuse program did little to impress in its opener.

my initial instinct was to go with OSU, they are a great team on both sides of the ball... but the more i thought about it the Cinncy D has no problem stacking the line and making the young OSU QB beat them through the air... if Cinncy can do this they will cover no problem as i just dont see OSU being able to sustain drives through the air vs the Cinncy DBs... their defense is better than people give them credit for, and a home opener on national TV (last weeks game was practice), look for Cinncy to cover

Got no feel for this one - both QB's suck, both have team speed & decent to good runnung games. Gun to my head I'd play Cincy as a home dog. Cannot get an accurate read off either performance last week. No play for me.
