SC wins, covers, this spread should be more...like 5 or 6.
their D line will persecute Martinez and his Oline. on top of that, SC ability to move the ball on offense on the ground and with a triple option speed & Shaws ability to make accurate pin point throws to convert on third or go deep down field for the big play... and Dont forget his option read (on the D) and scramble for a first down.
If martinez tries to move the ball down field in the air, enter SC D'backs: athletes, with hands and the ability to make a pick or cause a fumble and covert them to significant yardage gains.
Nebraska does not play well away from home, and they we very over rated to begin with this year, now facing a top 5 shut down Defense
Go cocks. Spurrier will have them up big time for this game.
lay the points and dont think twice.

Huskers getting healthy thanks to a few weeks off. Huskers win bowl games when they are interested. They will be up for this game and the Cocks will get a steady dose of the most underated RB in college ball with Burkhead now rested. Im taking the points and the Skers. GL

South Carolina hasn't won a bowl game since 2006. But, Nebraska has a history of struggling against mobile/dual-threat QB's (Dan Persa/Kain Colter, Russell Wilson, Denard Robinson, Braxton Miller). Head tells me SC, but my heart says Neb. No play for me. Good luck.

NU's best O-lineman (and that ain't saying much) probably sits after getting picked up for DUI. Spurrier probably looking for revenge for '95 Fiesta Bowl beat down. Martinez and Burkhead will leave it all out there but I don't see how it can be enough.

Huskers will be fired up for this bowl game (unlike last year) and most everyone should be healthy by game time. That being said, this will be the most athletic defense Huskers have faced all year and will have trouble moving the ball imo. The O line has played well at times this year, but is still several years from being dominant (not sure they ever get there with current OL coach). Center Caputo picked up for DUI, but looks like he will still play. QB Martinez is hot and cold..never know what you will get. He does not have the same burst of speed from last year..the ankle injury suffered last year seems to have slowed him a bit. Passing is...well...an adventure...some good and some horrible. Lots of good, young talent on the offensive side of the ball, but they sometimes disappear in games.
Husker D is worst unit Pelini has fielded since taking over in 07. LB David is all american and a stud, and CB Dennard is the same...outside of those two players, nobody on the team would likely break LSU's or Bama's 2 deep. The talent and knowledge is just not there...losing 3 DB's to the NFL (and all three are starting in NFL now) is looming large. Run Defense has been spotty at best last two years (up the middle). If Lattimore not hurt, it could be ugly....as it is, I think Huskers will play hard, but there are too many athletes on the SC side of the ball for them to keep up with. Huskers best game of the year was against the Spartans, but they caught MSU in a bad spot. The game unraveled with 3 TM INT's against Wisky, and the Huskers got worked over by Michigan (hard to believe their defense has made that big a jump, but they play well). Most people thought Huskers would lose 3 games or so this year, but it was how they lost them that was bad...I am afraid it continues here....SC by at least a TD

I had originally planned on betting Sc because they can't be that bad every bowl game, but then came the loss of Ellis Johnson, their DC. Without Lattimore at RB, SC needs their defense to stand tall. If Johnson hadn't taken that job SC should be a lock against a very average Nebraska offense, but now I think I will sit this dance out. Be careful bettors, the genius at SC is on the defensive side of the ball, not the offensive. Good luck to all.

Martinez couldnt throw a ball out of a wet paper bag- the blueprint has already been done for the game vs Michigan. Michigan has a great scheme but less talent than this South Car D. BLOWOUT 3TDS. Burkhead might not even finish this gm, like the kid but come on guys hes not Ahman Green

I'm a homer so I will be dismissed as such. Whatever.
I hear the lion's share of the argument is that the Huskers can't match up to South Carolina's D. Nebraska has faced 4 of the top-10 scoring defenses in the country this year and beat 2 of them (the Gamecocks are 12th). So I don't see a big eye-opener there.
Both teams are similar with a few signature wins, and a few bad losses. Both teams are offensively good running the ball and bad passing. So I see the argument that South Carolina's D is the difference in this game. I just don't think they are as good as their record indicates.
South Carolina has played only 4 teams with winning records this year. 3 of them (Georgia, Arkansas, and Clemson) are good teams with 9+ wins. The rest are God awful. Only 3 of the conference teams they played this year have winning records. They got to skip the two best teams in the SEC this year (Alabama and LSU), lucky them.
Nebraska has played 7 teams with winning records, 4 of which have 9+ wins, and 5 of those 7 teams are in-conference. They played EVERY good team in the Big-10, and skipped 3 of the worst.
The Huskers' downfall is turnovers and good QB's. You can never tell about turnovers in bowl games, but as QB's go, Nebraska has faced better than Connor Shaw many times this year.
I see a close game, but I see a Husker win by a field goal.
Nebraska +2.5

It cracks me up when people get on here and think that their pick is GAURAUNTEED. Experienced cappers KNOW that no pick is gauraunteed. As for this game, IMO Vegas had it right when it opened. It is a 2.5 to 3pt game and they knew the public would jump on the SEC team and bet it to or near 3 so they set it @ 1.5. I like SC to win buy 3-6, but I think I will need the SC defense to come up with a takeaway inside the Neb 20 to get it. If they come up with 2 inside the 20 they will win by 2 touches, 3 turns it into a route because Neb can't pass. I know SC has a sick defense with sick athletes but Navy averaged 5.8yds per rush against them, and was 9-14 on 3rd down, indicating that they were moving the ball consistantly and effectively with a bunch of 3rd & shorts. SC escaped with a 24-21 victory. Even though Nebraska runs a version of zone read and Navy runs the triple, they are still both run read O's that force the D to play stay @ home assignment football. SC will not be able to pin their ears back. Nebraska is good @ what they do, and SC has not proven that they can play disciplined D from start to finish against a run read O, as The Citidal runs the triple and put 20pts up on them as well, piling up 256yds on the ground @ 6.9yds per clip! Yeah that's right, the fucking Citidal. Only Arkansas, Georgia and ECU scored more on them than Navy and Citidal & thier run read O's. Burkhead probably won't fumble but I think they SC will strip or helmet bash the ball away from Martinez @ least twice, and this will be the difference in the game. Nebraska is a little more banged up and I am hoping they don't let the drunk driver play. 27-23 SC in a hard fought battle.

Big ten vs. sec. Is this really a question? -3 is a gift
I like SC as well but it is ill informed people like you that build hotels in Vegas. SEC ATS record in bowls vs Big 10 since '05 is 7-8. Go and check it out for yourself if u don't believe me. If SC does not find a way to win the turnover battle this game will go down to the wire.
