Does anyone have an explanation for the high total numbers that the books have set for the NIT, CIT, and CBI games?
Typically, totals align very closely with the KenPom projections, and the NCAA tourney lines reflect just that. The other postseason tourneys, however, all have numbers about 3-6% higher than the KenPom projections. Any explanations?
I know that in past years, the NIT/CIT/CBI have experimented with rule changes that led to higher scoring games (i.e. two years ago, used the 30 second shot clock). I am unaware of any rule changes being implemented this year, but wonder if I missed something.
These non-NCAA tourney postseason games provide for little scouting time and are generally pressure-free, but do the books really factor these intangibles? Perhaps historical trends reflect higher scoring games than KenPom model?

Has anyone analyzed these rule changes? I'm wondering if everyone is overreacting to the 20 seconds vs 30 seconds. I don't think it'll matter that much.
The 4 fouls in 10 minute rule reset, shouldn't matter as much.
I'm wondering if it's an overreaction to the rule change.

shrimpy - Thanks for the response and link. I reviewed the rules. Not sure if they would necessarily increase scoring to the degree that the books have adjusted. Should be interesting to track.
