Took the last few days off but was 2-0 on Monday. Short card and one game stands out:
Akron -5
Akron looking for a little revenge on the Chippewas from their 11 pt loss back in Jan. The Zips lost by 11 but made 7 more 3's. How's that possible? Well, its easy when CMU goes to the charity stripe 28 times and makes 25. Akron only had 11 FTA's. Very rarely do u beat your opponent by 20 pts from the line. That will not happen again. The key to this game (other than huge FT disparity) is the 3 ball. Both teams rank high in % of points from 3 (Akron #2, CMU #13), however the Zips are ranked 5th in overall opponent 3pt% while CMU is 151st. CMU is hitting 33% of their 3's on the road but Akron only allowing 27% at home. Zips are hitting the 3 ball at a 41% clip at home and CMU allowing 36% on road. Akron has the rebounding edge but CMU is better at the line.
I don't see CMU beating Akron by 20 points at the line again nor do I think the refs will call 22 fouls on the home team. Interesting note on the 3's in that game is Akron was 12-30 (40%) but CMU was 5-20 (25%). Again, the home team won't be fouling that much (or be called for as many) and I like the Zips here at home laying 5.
