Looks like they decided to buy him out.

What a weird year for that team.  They beat Indiana and then don't even show up against teams like Nebraska and Purdue.

Maybe it's just me, but he seemed to be a little "off" mentally this year.  Never seen a team that couldn't figure out a way to solve a zone defense EVENTUALLY and at least improve from a turnover standpoint.

Bottom line is, his players didn't generally improve over time.

Weird....MN gets to start over AGAIN.

From my perspective, this is an unjust firing. Tubby won an NCAA tournament game this year, and that will always be enough to keep your job in my mind. The University of Nebraska has never won an NCAA tournament game, repeat, never ever ever.

I hate to  be an a$$ but the shaka smart to minnesota rumors are hilarious he ain't going to minnesota. I think that Anthony Grant will leave Bama for Minnesota

I like Tubby a lot but really no one can win at minnesota Monson couldn't Tubby couldn't no hoops coach can succeed there.

What do people expect at Minnesota?  Man your Minnesota basketball?  Are they supposed to be like some powerhouse or something?  You made it to the NCAA tournament and won a game this year.  What else was Minnesota supposed to do this year?  Go to the Final 4?

I"m confused...

With the number of times he threw his players under the bus this year I"m not surprised.  I don't feel sorry for coaches who do that.

When you win it is the players that should get all the praise when you lose it should be the coach who shoulders the blame.  Tubby didn't do that and I'm sure the players grew tired of that.

Just some facts:  Never finished higher than 6th in the Big 10 in 6 years.  15-29 record in February.  ONE NCAA tournament win.

Maybe God can't win at MN, but facts are facts.

Last 3 years conference record:

6-12
6-12
8-10

Is he really earning the money he pays him?  Big name for sure, but you have to look at the facts too.

Didn't see this coming.  Might be more to this story than we know.  He was very expensive for the results he was obtaining.  I wonder if they'd have any interest in Tony Bennett from UVa?  Tony might be happier there.  Not sure he's a great fit in Charlottesviile.

Minnesota is a sh*thole.

No loss for Tubby.  You won't see coaches lined up to coach the Gophers.

Haven't heard Tony B's name mentioned at ALL.  I'm guessing N. Teague has had a plan all along and this will get done quickly.  I am doubting they can get S. Smart.  F. Saunders is the front runner according to some.

Most who don't live in MN think this was a dumb move.  Listen, folks, this was supposedly Tubby's best team.  He finished NINTH in the Big 10.  They failed down the stretch AGAIN.   It was the same story every loss.....dumb fouls....turnovers.....slow starts.....zero chance to solve the zone.

Most likely hutch VA will be in the big 10 {which will suck i don't want Virginia} so bennett will stay. keep your eye on Anthony Grant but they better get better facilities. Minn in hoops and NC State in football are 2 programs i can't stand programs that think they're better than they really are. BOL gophers
