Let me start out by saying I am a huge Penn State sports fan. However, I will be playing against Penn State today for one of my biggest bets of the season.
Penn State comes into the game playing decent basketball. However, the strength of schedule has been pitiful, and without all conference PG Tim Frazier this is a team that simply just can not score. DJ Newbill is the teams only scorer, in fact he is the teams only everything. He leads the Lions in PPG, Assists, Rebounds (which he is a guard and PSU has no big man presense), and FG%.
Penn State played OK first time out in the Big 10 against a very overrated Wisconsin team. In my opinion, when all is said and done, the only team Wisconsin will finish about is PSU, Nebraska, and Northwestern. Because Wisconsin also plays a slow tempo game PSU was able to keep in close (even though Wisconsin was up 14 with 13:00 minutes to go). Wisconsin too, has no legit scorer and are very poor from the stripe.
Indiana, struggled last game with their first road game in the Big 10, only beating Iowa by 4. Iowa is a team who plays up tempo and their style of play is similar to Indiana's. I simply do not see Indiana struggling two games in a row.
Cody Zeller should have a field day against the Nit's defense. He will be able to beat them up and down the court for easy points and get the ball down low at will. Indiana is leading the country in PPG at nearly 88 a game, and Penn State just can not find the hoop. I felt coming in this line would be between 24-26 and am shocked to see it all the way down to 15.5. When all is said and done, this game should and will get ugly. Do not let Penn State's overall/home record scare you. They have not played a real team yet this season and will struggle to win a Big 10 game this year without Frazier.
