Two teams meet tonight who's style compliment each other perfectly -- and that style is FAST, as both squads enter tonight ranked in the top 65 nationally with respect to tempo. In fact, in the 8 games combined that these teams have played vs opponents that are "above average" in pace (> 67.0 poss / gm), seven of them exceeded tonight's posted total and averaged 164.4 points (the one exception was Marist vs Colgate that landed on 134). And none of them played below 72 possessions (KenPom predicts 73 tonight)
They added value in this game in my opinion comes from the fact that Niagara hasn't been able to get out and run like they did in the first month of the season. The reason: their opponents (L5 vs teams with pace ratings of #275, 217, 233, 284, 308). In fact, this will be the first game they get to face an above average paced team since Iona back on Nov 28th.
Finally, last year's games also support the tempo and style we should see tonight as we saw totals of 153 points on 74 possessions and 166 points on 82 possessions in those meetings
