Ok finally NCAA Basketball has returned! I picked my spots last year, primarily
in the beginning of the season and had some decent success (especially on my
larger plays)…all of my results are documented in the above thread and previous
threads from last season. So far I have 1 Large play for tomorrow, and a couple more that I am researching:
Michigan State vs.
UCONN Under 136 – Risking 5.5 Units to win 5/ $550 to win $500 (BIG PLAY
ALERT)

I was targeting this line to be around 129-131.UCONN is under the leadership of a new
coach and lost significant talent from last years underachieving team.Michigan State will be a force again
returning most of their talent with the exception of Green.UCONN finished last season by
struggling to score points away from home.If this game were being played at a normal location under
normal circumstances I wouldn’t touch the line as it stands…however this is a
huge play for me due to the following factors:
1.) 1.) The
game is being played in an Aircraft Hangar in Germany – an atypical environment
for a basketball game is not conducive to high scoring (look at recent results
from the Maui Invitational matchups which were played in a ballroom last year)
2.) 2.) Both
teams took redeye flights Wednesday evening (7 Nov) and arrived in Germany
today (8 Nov).Each team has a
relatively packed schedule of touring the Air Base, and practice timeto get familiar with the Aircraft
Hangar will be limited.
3.) 3.) The
tipoff time is 11:30pm (Local Germany)/ 5:30 pm (East Coast). While the players have likely not
adjusted to the time zone change, there is no doubt that traveling this far
(and changing time zones) can impact the ability of 18-22 year olds to perform
at a high level.
Given the situation, this game is screaming under…Let’s
start the season off on a GREAT note and take this one to the bank!

UConn is playing a smaller lineup this year becuase of lack of size up front and will be running more. Kevin Ollie said he wants to have a more uptempo offense and use more pressing and trapping on defense.

Jpero,
Appreciate the advice/input, but I personally don't think UCONN has the athletes this year to compete with Mich State...Mich State proved last year at the end of the season that they were susceptible to losing when other teams clamped down on defense (Louisville & St. Louis--even though they beat StL it was close...)...so that being said if UCONN chooses to play uptempo in this game that is really a recipe for disaster In my opinion....especially considering MSU returns 4 of their top 6 scorers from last year...a shootout is the last thing UCONN should be looking for here.
Regardless I am on this play because of the situation...this type of matchup in this type of environment does not bode well for scoring from either team.

Anything over 130 has serious value IMO. Let my clarify that when i said i was targeting this line to be 129-131, that is what i thought lines-makers would set it at (which they more or less did). My book (sportsbetting.com) was offering 136 almost within an hour of releasing their lines. Personally I don't think the game cracks 120...because it's the first game of the year between two teams with serious talent differences...As I have stated I am on this play because of the situation of playing in an aircraft hangar with limited prep time/or time to adapt to time zone changes...

-- Risking 1.1 Units to Win 1 Unit / $110 to win $100
CofC returns 6 of their top 7 scorers from last year. Towson only won 1 game last year for a reason, and while they will be improved, it is unreasonable to expect drastic improvement in only a year. Laying 16 points at home against one of the worst teams in NCAABB is value.

I like this play, too. I'm leaning game under but will take 1H under.
Circle #1 in what you said....
MSU does not play well in weird environments like this...a year ago it was the Carrier Classic (played on the deck of the USS Carl Vinson). MSU lost 67-55 to UNC.

not sure about the ramstein (aircraft hub) point regarding the under. ramstein is the biggest US aircraft hub outside of the US. 35.000 soldiers and 6000 civilists work there. the guys will be playing in front of the soldiers which are coming and going to/from afghanistan and iraq. there's also a hospital for the wounded there. maybe they want to put up a show.

Quick question diesel, would you take the under at the half at 62.5? Thanks in advance.
Bee28s - I would lean under 1H at 62.5...I personally don't usually like betting the 1H...and am more confident capping an entire game or the 2h if a line has value
