Personally its the kind of matchup i really want to see in wimbledon right know. Halep as shown in a past she has a very good potential on grass. Lisicki has nothing to prove on grass. She is top 3 with without a doubt Kvitova and ... i have top take Kerber because she is formate to play on this surface and at this time i dont really see nobody better than her on this surface to be Top 3. Who do you take on you top 3 on grass ? For me the best is Kvitova. A good Kvitova beat everyone she wants on grass. An excellent Kvitova destroy everyone she wants.
Halep was suspect to some interrogation coming into this tournament because of some injury. But with the way she cruised through his match against Diyas, needing only 57 minutes to finish her. She is in total control and she needed a speedy game like that to get some rest because she has played a lot of tennis as of late. In Hertogenbosch, she had to withdraw from his game against Beck due to an injury while she was up a set. She was bothered by something for sure but does she did that to be able to get some rest before wimbledon where she was beaten las year in the second round by Na Li. I think its something to consider.
Sure the grass isnt his best surface and I dont think she really enjoy to play on it. But she's a winner and she's only 23. Winning everything is the goal for her. She settles step by step in the top 5. And with Vika out most of the season the american tourney will be very interesting as i think Halep will be one of the favorite to win USO.
As for tomorrow game, i think Lisicki wants too much to reach the final again, and that will cause her loss. She's to emotive and i dont think will be able to install his game against a good calculator and smart Halep. Maybe im wrong and its a high probability because Lisicki give always every inches of his hearth when she plays. Especially here in Wimbledon. She has the talent to play on every surface but she has an hard time controlling his emotion throughout the game. Strangely, during the grass season she out perform herself and take the best of her, and often get great result.
As i said above, i think Halep isnt enjoying playing on grass but win is what she wants. So she will do what she has to do to win this game and frustrated Lisicki during rally as she has not a big serve like his opponent. So she will have to be tactical to win.
Bouchard - Kerber
For me the best game of tomorrow. The Canadian youngster and the German product. Another german player who his game is formate to play on grass and maybe more than any other.
First off i have to said that i know Genie since his ITF career. Most people around talked about her about his potential and his amazing talent. At this time i wasnt looking at ITF so much i and mostly use to know it closely since his victory last year against Ana here in wimbledon. She is so amazing. A pure 20 years old with passion for the game, agressivity and impetuosity. The problem is his lack of regularity during the course of the season. She plays a lot of tournament and use a lot of energy on match where she doesnt perform well. Like is clay tourney for good example. She hitting winner with aggressiveness and talent. she start to get a solid mental and show his ability to settle down in difficult moment. Against Cornet, who was surprisingly good as well as she was against Serena. Genie understood the first set will be crucial as both players held his serve until the tiebreak. In the tiebreak, she showed is capacity to not let his head take control of herself when she was up 4-1 and suddenly Cornet got his first two serve back and led 5-4. Genie goes on to win the tiebreak 7-5 and mostly dominate the second set with control . Like Halep, this girl is the fighter and wants to win win and win and most importantly she has more than the talent for.
About the german, she is for me the best product the german tennis school has given since Stephi Graff. Its about time for her but in my humble opinion, we have something going with this girl. I think she really has the game to play on grass and most important, she likes to play on it. His game is growing in the right direction and his mental, as good as it has always been, he is starting to begin his arm. Not totally but it's in process. Again a good example is his game today against Maria. As i said in my thread yesterday, i saw her lost early and Kerber was the perfect arm to beat her. But we have to give credit to Kerber because Sharapova didnt give the game away. (I dont like her to much but i have to respect what she is and she is a real fighter. And also with Serena getting old and starting to have injury problem AND mental problem, i think Sharapova is in perfect shape, is shoulder injury is behind her an she will become number 1 very quickly.)
Here i like Kerber because i think she will outplayed Bouchard in his own game. Long rally will not be something she will be able to develop during the course of the game like she did when she saw each other in RG. Grass dont let you do that often and Kerber is more than capable to hit winner like her.
Kerber is on a great run and played already well in Eastbourne as she reached the final for eventually lose to Madison Keys who was completely on fire during the week.
She wants redemption about his grass season from last year and she also wants revenge from his straights set lose in RG against his same opponent few weeks ago.
Kerber +110
And again, whatever the result of the game, with the way all these youngsters are coming, this is a real new ERA of women tennis who start to settle in the top of the ranking. Looking forward to see her perfom in the second part of the hard season.
