I'm new to this betting stuff, I mostly do it for recreational purposes. I've been tailing quite a few of you over the past couple of weeks. I understand that there are many factors that influence which teams are picked/which bets are made.
I'd just like some advice/insight on a few things, one game in particular:
Sunday, Jan 25, 2015 - Jupiler Pro League Game Anderlecht vs Standard Liege
The ML odds are +158 & +171 respectively. I wanted to bet on Anderlecht as they're the higher ranked team and have won most of their previous matches with multiple goals.
I then did more research and saw how closely matched these two teams are.
For a game like this, would it be wrong to bet on $10 both sides?
Anderlecht would pay $25.80 Standard Liege would pay $27.10
Either way I'd be making a small profit however this would fail terrible if the game was to end is a DRAW.
A colleague of mine suggested placing half of the bet amount on the DRAW but that cuts the profit amount even further.
So this would be the slow and steady method where you place bets on game where the ML of both teams are >+150. For this game,
I'd bet $10 on both sides which means if Anderlecht wins, I'd only profit $5.80 or if Standard Liege wins I'd only profit $7.10.
If the game is a DRAW then I'm shit outta luck lol. I could bet $5 on the draw but then that's - $5 on the profit if either team wins.
What do you guys think about this type of betting?
