This has nothing to do with defense it has to do with players cant hit. I watched the VCU and Fairfield game and both teams shot at will its just that these teams are NOT known for their offense. You can't tell me that these high scoring teams are just going to stop scoring like they normally do and play defense. You never go outside of your comfort zone if its working EVER. Even though that teams will want to win badly they are not going to change their game plan for what brought them this far. I've heard it time and time again "don't change whats not broken". Not saying that these high scoring teams are going to continue to score because a lot of factors are in place but I will say they won't change their game plan. |

Its not about changing your game style. Its just the way it is, DEFENSE WINS CHAMPIONSHIPS. In every sport, defense is kicked up a notch in the postseason. Its a different type of game. The regular season and postseason are two different products, THEY ARE NOT THE SAME. Yeah you have certain teams that play high scoring but the postseason is a slowwww game. Half court game where teams take there time, pass the ball around and look for a good shot because they know they have to make it a shorter game and play tight defense. Of course its different for every team but undeniably, the postseason is a tighter, slower, more defensive minded game |

DUDE this has NOTHING to do with a championship is about a mid major team doing everything they can to get tgeir school into a tourney. I know that the bigger conferences do play at a slower pace but these mid majors NEED this tourney champ to make it in and they are not going to sit on there behind and try to play defense when all they know how to score. Teams like Iona, Long Beach St, Davidson got to where they are because of their scoring not defense. They will use that ability to attempt to make it to the Big Dance then once they get there they will adapt to the change of pace. But right now these mid majors could give a garbage if they played defense as long as they score more than the other team they are fine. |

Basketball is basketball. I dont know if you play basketball, but i have for well over 20 years since i was a baby. I played highschool for all 4 years, and tried on as a walk on for UF although i didnt make it. It is easy to play defense. ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS PUT THE EFFORT. that it. Scoring however is different. Yes i agree 100% that some of those teams u listed like Davidson, Long Beach st etc can do that but they still have to play some of these sorry teams. I mean that defense at the end of the Loyola/Fairfield game with NASTY from both sides. Defense will always make offense look sorry. I think we are both right in our argument and i also think we are both giving different arguments. Generally when teams play, what ever team can execute a certain style will suck the other team into that style for that game. If a team is high flying I.E. IONA, they are gonnna run up and down look at what we have here, FAIRFIELD BEAT IONA 85-75 yesterday. Look at UNC when they played Virginia, two teams with exact opposite styles, and they were sucked into a slow game. Its just whatever style is overpowering. Also i know ur not saying im wrong but put urself in a basketball players situation. If you are about to play a BIG game, are you going to have the mindset to outscore the opponent or SHUT THEM DOWN. I'LL TELL YOU ONE THING, NO FREAKING COACH TELS THERE TEAM TO GO AND OUTSCORE THE OTHER TEAM.
